Just finished a 26 hour shift, but had the consolation of being able to pick up my newly purchased diamond from Whiteflash on the way home!

For those thinking of buying a diamond, here's what to expect:
Arrive at pick up location (for me it was FedEx, . . . others might prefer the dark alley option, depending on how you came about your diamond).
Signature, signature, signature. . . explain that the ID you're holding from Minnesota IS a valid driver's license, and that Minnesota is indeed an actual state (I live in manhattan).
Receive a box large enough to hold a dvd player.
Open said box.
Find a smaller box?!
Open said box.
Find a security wrapped package?!
Open security wrapping (with difficulty).
Find another padded mailer.
Open this, while wondering if there's a set of Russian nesting dolls at the end of all this.
Finally find a black folder with certificate details, an appraisal letter, a receipt. . .
oh yeah, . . .
and your new diamond!
This came wrapped in three layerrs of paper, in a small card with it's details written on it.
Mine say:

1.793ct, VS1, J
Now, the question is,
do you open it to look at the diamond there?

I sure did!
No way was I going to head home without makinng sure there was a diamond under all that paper.
Luckily the shop was dead, so I had the place to myself and my curious fingers.
I sat down next to the large store front window, midday sun pouring through and unwrapped my new purchase.

you know what?

Diamonds look gooooooooooood in sunlight!

I was a bit worried about the "J" colour, and in just the right light, I can pick it out, but in every other light, it goes WHITE!

Anyone want to see some pics?

is that a trick question?
We always want to see pics!

I used to do a bit of photographing, but I never tried small objects, like diamonds before.
People are easier.
I just took these, but some of them turned out okay.
Here''s the first one I tried.

here''s some heat!
I cook a lot, and for some reason just felt like this recipe.

The camera I used is a four year old, sony dsc-f717, digital.
It''s beat up, and not that hot, but has a huge lens, so is good for rough macro work.
these turned out okay, but it''s a lot of trial and error because you can''t tell (with this camera) if you''re really focused and lined up till you''ve taken a shot.

Oh,
here''s another one. . .

spicy diamond II small.jpg

. . . and the last one that turned out half way decent.

You make me sick (your pictures are OUTSTANDING!) !!!

Beautiful diamond! Honestly, I am having trouble understanding people who see yellow in H diamonds when J''s look this white!

If that gorgeous rock fell out of my penzey''s crushed red pepper, I''d eat the whole pile to get it out. And I buy extra hot
