Just finished a 26 hour shift, but had the consolation of being able to pick up my newly purchased diamond from Whiteflash on the way home!
For those thinking of buying a diamond, here's what to expect:
Arrive at pick up location (for me it was FedEx, . . . others might prefer the dark alley option, depending on how you came about your diamond).
Signature, signature, signature. . . explain that the ID you're holding from Minnesota IS a valid driver's license, and that Minnesota is indeed an actual state (I live in manhattan).
Receive a box large enough to hold a dvd player.
Open said box.
Find a smaller box?!
Open said box.
Find a security wrapped package?!
Open security wrapping (with difficulty).
Find another padded mailer.
Open this, while wondering if there's a set of Russian nesting dolls at the end of all this.
Finally find a black folder with certificate details, an appraisal letter, a receipt. . .
oh yeah, . . .
and your new diamond!
This came wrapped in three layerrs of paper, in a small card with it's details written on it.
Mine say:
1.793ct, VS1, J
Now, the question is,
do you open it to look at the diamond there?
I sure did!
No way was I going to head home without makinng sure there was a diamond under all that paper.
Luckily the shop was dead, so I had the place to myself and my curious fingers.
I sat down next to the large store front window, midday sun pouring through and unwrapped my new purchase.
you know what?
Diamonds look gooooooooooood in sunlight!
I was a bit worried about the "J" colour, and in just the right light, I can pick it out, but in every other light, it goes WHITE!
Anyone want to see some pics?
