Hi, I recommend that you post this question in Rocky Talky. You will get more answers there I think

I was just thinking that. Is there a way to move this topic over?

Your post is now in Rocky Talk!

Wow, those diamonds are quite diverse! I think we need to narrow down your preferences and then people can better help you! I honestly would not choose any of those 4 stones.

I can tell that you are looking for a diamond in the 1.20''s range. That''s a good start! But E to J is quite a wide color range! You''ve also listed quite a range of clarity.

I''d suggest that you tell us your budget and let people suggest some stones for you. Do you have a preferred vendor (or vendors) at this point?

Unfortunately I am locked into a jeweler in terms of upgrades and this is what they currently have in stock for the 1.25 range.

I orginally had a 1.10 RB and upgraded to a 1.37 princess about 6 months ago. I am not as happy as I thought I''d be with my upgrade and am wanting to go back to a RB.

They also have a few in the 1.5 range that I was looking at. However, I''m not sure that I want to spend the $.

My current princess has a spead of 6.18 X 6.08 and I know that a well cut round should be around 6.9 X 6.9. Therefore, I feel that although I would be going down in size, the visual effect wouldn''t change much.

Any advice is appreciated!

ok, i ran the stones through the HCA. the first one scored a .7 which might be ok if you like how it looks, most people prefer the looks of stones that fall between 1-2. the first is a tad deep for me personally but might be a lovely stone. the second scored and even 1. the 3rd didn''t have crown or pavillion angles so there isn''t enough info to determine the cut and the forth was a 3.4 which is may be worth it if the price is right. I agree with diamondseeker that the color ranges are very different. have you seen these stones in person? does one speak to your eyes more? Are you color sensitive? Many people love a good well cut J but it''s not for every one.

Thanks!!! I was thinking that it would be between the 2nd and 4th stone. What is an ideal depth for the size that I am looking at?

My old RB was a VS1 I and my current princess is a VS2 I. I don''t know how I feel about SI2''s...or J''s as I have not had a chance to see these stones in person. How hard is it to find an "eye-clean" SI2? Do you think that there is a huge difference between and I and a J?

My husband and I have a trip planned in July (just so happens to be near my jeweler) and we may go in to take a look. I''m just trying to gather all of the information that I can before making another purchase!

I really appreciate the feedback!

The price difference between stone #2 & 4 is around $700.

Also...if most people prefer a score between a 1-2 on the HCA...how is a 3.4 an acceptable score?

i would suggest reading the tutorial offered here, if you haven''t already. Most people prefer stones that rate 1-2 on a scale where: 0-2 Excellent, 2-4 Very Good, 4-6 Good, 6-8 Fair, and 8-10 Poor. Zero is almost impossible since many of the factors conflict.

Is your jeweler able to call in stones? You might consider finding a few that are available to many jewelers that would be worth having him/her bring it in for you to look at while you''re visiting? As for the depth, I prefer closer to 60% but normally you''d want to stay under 63%, no matter what size stone you have.

Here are a few more in the 1.5 range. Like I said before, I''m not sure if I want to spend the $...but...have always wanted a 1.5.

Once you get too many stones posted for people to look at, it get overwhelming

if you click here you will find the Cut advisor and can enter in the numbers for yourself to determine which range you want to be in. I think learning as much as you can and then seeing stones in person will help you decide what is most pleasing to your eyes. Do you have any jewelers you can go to just to look at ideal cut stones? That''s what I''d do. Try to see several stones with different color, clarity, depths, etc and see what looks best to you. then you can tell your jeweler what you like and they can be on the look out for stones that meet your personal criteria.

i will add that I would stick to AGS or GIA graded stones. If It were me, I''d get an AGS000 stone in a heartbeat. I''d want ideal polish and symmentry.

Thanks for the link. I ran all of the 1.5 stones through the HCA and it seems that the 1.23 SI2 G still performs the best. Keep in mind that I do know that I need to take a look at these stones in person before I make any decision, because numbers only carry you so far.

To answer your other questions, I don''t think they bring in stones from other outside sources and these are all GIA certs.

Unfortunately, I was engaged way before I ever knew about pricescope. If I would have found this site back then, my husband probably wouldn''t have bought my stone from the jeweler in which he did. This is why I''m rather limited in terms of upgrading.

You might want to find out who is there supplier, or who they buy their stones from. Most jewelers have access to the same stones unless they have purchased them, cut the rough themselves and the stones become in house. Bluenile for examle does not stock all of their stones. they list a bunch, but those stones are really available to many, many jewelers. If you see a stone online that is not housed by a certain jeweler, your jeweler can probably source it or get it called in for you. Just an option that could open up many choices for you so you are not limited to what your jeweler has in stock. you can even do a search here on PS and the same stone will be listed by several vendors. none of them own it, any of them can get it.
