I found a diamond with 55% table and little concern how it would look compare to large table. Althought 55% table shows HCA 1.6 Is there any noticeable with brilliant compare to something with 60% table. Can someone explain how the diamond would look to plain eyes? Thanks

Good intro to cut here - http://www.goodoldgold.com/4Cs/NewCutGrading/

Larger table means that to achieve the same crown height, the crown must be steeper. Larger table also means that the other crown facets are closer together and are smaller, which limits potential for high-energy dispersions from those facets. Larger tables are sometimes accompanied by shallower crowns, shallower pavilions, long lower halves, therefore shallower overall depths (the so-called 60/60s) that are fantastically bright in terms of white light return, and have the advantage of facing up slightly larger than the so-called Tolkowsky-types that make the primary the niche of this particular forum.

Hi there! During my e-ring search I was initially after a larger table to gain a bit more spread, but after doing tons of research decided that even though the larger table faces up a bit larger, the smaller table with correct accompanying angles will give off a better balance of flashes and sparkle overall. In my comparisons I found that I liked how the stones with smaller tables preformed better. I also preferred to have more lovely crown facets than more space taken up by one larger flat table facet. However, everyone is different and has different tastes so I suggest going to a local store and looking at several of both options to see for yourself which you prefer visually. Good luck in your search!!!
