I am getting some small (2 point) halo earring jackets in a month or so for 4mm studs. I have super small lobes. 7-8mm pearls barely fit on my ears and have to be adjusted in order not to hang over my lobes.

We are being super financially fiscal this year so the bling budget is small, yet I would like to get some small but lively and sparkly 4mm stud earrings set in a 14K martini or 4 prong basket setting.

Where should I go or who should I speak with for .50ctw stud OEC earrings? Who would you go to? Obviously, GOG is out of my price point.

Thanks!

You might try My Diamond Zone. Or contact Erica or Grace. They may have something in stock that isn't on their website. Especially Grace, she has many stones not listed. Mydiamondzone.com; loveaffairdiamonds.com, jewelsbygrace.com.

Good luck :wavey:

You need to get the jackets and send one to whoever is making the studs to be sure the setting fits within your jackets before you pay for diamonds. I'd also suggest Erica and Grace.

Thank you! I will reach out to them when I am ready.

Have you seen OEC's in the size you're talking about? The reason I ask is the qualities that make OEC's special for a lot of us may not be as readily apparent in the 4 mm size you're looking for. If what you want is something really lively and sparkly at 4mm and having jackets made for them, you might not want to rule out MRB's. I love OEC's and have one, but at 4 mm, I'd go for MRB's. Alternatively, I'd go for bigger OEC's and skip the jackets completely.

The best thing (if at all possible) is to see 4 mm OEC's and MRB's side by side, both alone and in a jacket, and see which you prefer. You might be surprised.

Rainwood brings up good points. OECs likely won't be as eye-catching, and if your jackets are made with MRBs, they might actually outshine your OEC. The flowery virtual facets are harder to discern in smaller sizes, and it'll be more difficult to find a well-cut, closely matched pair of OECs than MRBs.

And a +2 from me. OECs are gorgeous and my diamond of choice usually with one caveat. If they are too small you cannot appreciate those gorgeous chunky facets and you might be better off with MRB studs at that size. All you will see is sparkle and as Rainwood wrote see which you prefer at that size side by side.

And I also second PSPL's rec of Old World Diamonds. They have a huge inventory of gorgeous OECs in all sizes (and access to MRBs too) so you could get an idea of which you prefer side by side if you are near NYC where OWD is located.

Rainwood and PSPL- Thank you for your comments!

I have not seen an OEC in person yet. I fell in love with Cellentani's IDJ jackets with OEC studs. Her OECs are the same size as the studs that I am interested in purchasing. My original thought was to get small AVRs since the light performance would not be an issue, but GOG only has G/H studs in this size and a hefty price tag which is too high in color, too high for my budget and my brain. I just can't see paying almost $1700 for such small studs, but then again I know that they come with a premium and have great sparkle power. I would be willing to go to an L color with AVRs, but GOG does not have any or is not offering them in this color/size right now.

I have 2 piercings in each ear. The plans for my jewelry wardrobe - yes, I think like this, LOL- are to have an OEC set: small OEC studs and larger (1 tcw) bezeled OEC studs, and an ideal cut MRB set: same approximate sizes as the OEC set but none of the MRBs will be bezeled.

I do have a pair of .50 tcw MRB studs that I bought pre-PS. They are bright enough but are not ideal cut by any means and will be replaced. I may just keep them until I decide what to do.

Thanks, Missy! I wish that I had known about PS when I was working in Manhattan! I have been in the south for almost ten years now though.

I am leaning toward getting the MRB studs first and then pursuing my small OEC studs after I acquire the larger OEC studs.
