Small chip at the bottom of new ring

Hi all,

I purchased a diamond and ring online and had it shipped across the border to Canada. We noticed there was a small chip on the ring before even wearing it. My fiancée is worried this is a manufacturing issue with the ring and since we are not experienced in purchasing jewellery we were wondering if this is something important enough to fix with the seller. Is this something fair to bring up and try to fix, or is there no reason for concern over the quality and structural integrity of the ring (we are now wondering if it has small chips/voids inside too)?

Spoke with the seller and they seem to think is no big deal, and would rather get this fixed later down the road when the ring needs a polish/resizing.
