I have been given a second chance and I jumped on it! I have always loved this spinel but was not sure if I would love a sleepy spinel up close since so had no never seen one. I used to look at it every day a few years ago and was so disappointed to see that it had sold. A week ago I saw it for sale again on LT and jumped on it! If I had bought it back then I would have sent it to Sally which I might still do. It is super sparkly and I see pink and purple in it at the same time! 20170901_142815_HDR-1.jpg 20170901_142729_HDR-2.jpg

That is the true essence of an ethereal stone! It's so dreamy and other worldly. It brings to mind the title of the book, 'the mists of avalon.'

So beautiful. I love the unique color.

Thanks Elle and Blugemz! Ethereal was the first word that came to mind when I saw the pink flashes. I am so surprised at how much it sparkles!

That's so cool, but IMO you should buy that pink one too. They just look like they belong together :p

Thanks OTL! I know what you mean but it was a stretch to get my hubby to agree to just this one! And I just feel like this stone has been calling me for a long time.

I forgot to add, this is a perfect example of what I mean by jewelry karma! The story makes it seem to me that it was meant to be. You truly loved it, and then it reappeared . I think you did great by jumping to get it.

That's so lovely!! The sleepiness is cool and color so pretty.

Well I am so grateful for jewelry karma Bluegemz! I like these together and they were both preloved and from Loupetroop. So was the round periwinkle sapphire ring on the other hand. (I have realized I cannot pull off three rings on one hand but two and two I can do.) The spinel does remind me of moonstone and fireopal Rockysalamander!
Thank you Chatoyancy. The sleepiness combined with the colour make it so calming. I like the colour of it in all lighting too.

That looks great, the two and two! Such a nice collection. Its wonderful to see all of the shades of blues together like that.

It's actually quite difficult to find sleepy spinels. These sleepy stones could be really appealing yet affordable. I have one in spinel but in pink, and couple nice blue and pink in sapphire. Sleepy blue spinel is harder to find....

Look at all those gorgeous blues.

So pretty! I love the ombre effect of all 4 of the rings across your hands.

I have a sleepy red. I think with some stones, you just kinda know... The vendor picture was terrible but I knew it was something special. And the reality was at the time spinel prices were going up like crazy.

Your stone s beautiful.:kiss2: sleepy blues are special and rarely seen.

Hi Arcadian, I'd like to see your sleepy red! Maybe we can start a sleepy stone thread? :)

Thank you Arcadian, Seaglow, t and m and elle! Yes please post your sleepy spinels here!

I'm so glad you are happy with it! Wear it in good health.

Thank you Amy! It is like a little fairy on my finger and always brings a smile to my face!

I love this!!! What a gorgeous blue collection.

Very pretty and unique!

It's dreamy! Gorgeous colors on your pretty hands!

Aww, thanks Missy, Acinom and Lisa!

I've also seen these dreamy spinels referred to as "milky spinels". I'm sure you have enabled a lot of us with your photos.

il_570xN.580549165_nekg.jpg Thank you chatoyancy! Happy to help:dance:
When I have saved up enough and have set my pear Mahenge spinel, my plan is to send this to Sally also to set it in an original lotus but with diamonds in the band.

Or possibly in a halo with diamonds in the band like this:

Actually I think no halo but diamonds in the band. I can't find a picture in her shop. Any way I know it will be the perfect ethereal setting to match the stone's spirit. il_570xN.189327813.jpg

Either one would be a beautiful choice. I have been eyeing her lotus design for a while.

almost has a paraiba look to it. Really interesting!
