Please post pictures of your sleepy gems, and why you like them! I''ve seen a few sleepy spinels, sapphires, and interesting aqua cabs around here, and I''d love see them on a thread. Interesting inclusions of all sorts are welcome!

Pretty spinel Chrono! I''m running to class, but I''ll add Kismet''s milky cab when I get back and a few others.

Here''s a REALLY sleepy sapphire. This stone had a distinct star in bright direct lighting, but in diffuse lighting it looked very much like one of my grandmothers satiny buttons that she used to keep in her button box when I was a kid.

Here's what the star looked like in the sunlight. That was such a smooth stone, no growth lines, no fractures, (at least from the top, I think there was a small one on the back side), I can't remember who this one went to, but I sure hope that they're enjoying it as much as I did !

I really like these sleepy spinels! Do they "glow"?

this is my little narcoleptic topaz
It didnt come in one of those little boxes so I put it in this vial confident that the glass cannot scratch the topaz (and it''s not as though I am shaking it up).

Here''s the one I''m looking under couch cushions for the change neede to buy! It is an untreated Tanzanian ruby with an AIGS report. I love the sleepiness!! It looks like magenta silk!

Uppy, can I have some alone time with your couch cushions? LOL - mine only yield cat hair, nickels, and ring mandrels.

While not a high value stone, rose quartz like this is well known for its "sleepy" appearance. When it''s used creatively in jewelry it can be very effective.

Mine does in low light. The low lighting makes it really hard to capture on photo, but it is sooo cool in person.

Yes, glow is a good word for what they do and I agree that it''s much better in person than in any photo I''ve been able to take.

Vapid, I really like your topaz! I asked if topaz could be cabbed in the imperial/precious thread recently because I''ve rarely seen it done.

Uppy, that ruby is gorgeous!! I love that intense bright fuschia color.
