Hello all, I was wondering if anyone can help me in chosing my setting from Whiteflash, since I am purchasing my stone from them. I prefer 4 prongs, and something that is dainty, delicate, and feminine. Does anyone know what width of band I should look at? I am debating between 2 mm, around 2.2-2.3 mm, and the maximum width being 2.5 mm.

I love the look of a tapered band, and am thinking of the Sleekline Legato. It's hard to tell in person though, would this setting be classified as dainty and delicate looking? From Whiteflash's pictures, it looks rather solid and well, maybe a tad bulky to me, but when I look at people's actual hand pictures with the setting on pricescope, it looks really feminine. I am thinking that the ring is just viewed as a close up on the site, and perhaps makes it look a bit larger than it actually is?

Can someone who has or who has seen this setting in person let me know? Thanks!

I owned that setting and had three different diamond set into it over the two year period I owned it (upgrades). It is very elegant, dainty and delicate! The shank is about 2.5mm at its widest and is very low profile, perhaps 1.3mm in rise off the finger. It tapers steeply towards the stone, which is what makes it looks delicate on the hand. The head is also one of my favourites, the prongs are very slim leaving as much of the diamond exposed as possible, and the little swoop in the cross bar is lovely.

The only "issue" is that it is so delicate and low profile that you can really only wear a plain band with it. I could not find a diamond band that was low profile enough to match.

thanks diamond and dreamer, I've thought about asking WF to shave the shank to maybe 2.3 or 2.2 mm, and they said they could do so if I wished, but that it would ruin the flow of the design. Do you think I should leave it as is?

Legato is for sure the best setting in Whiteflash!!

You have to take into account your girlfriends ring size, if she has petite fingers then you should get her a 2 to 2,2mm setting and you can go for a smaller diamond as it will look bigger on her finger.

If she has bigger fingers 6.5 and over then you should go for a wider setting a maybe add a little more carat weight but I believe that an excelent cut 0,6 carats with a lot of sparkle will make any girl happy.

I was going to buy the Legato Setting at Whiteflash because she is a 5 ring size but the Round Diamonds were cheaper at Blue Nile so I ordered a 0.62c H VS2 Excelent Cut, yesterday from Blue Nile with this setting:

Paid 2750USD for the diamond with the setting (got 10% on the setting).

Make sure your diamond scores more than 0,5 and less than 2 on this cut adviser:

Best of luck!

Thanks, the setting you chose for her is really pretty!

My girlfriend's ring size is pretty small, she's a 4. I have already purchased a 2.04 round brilliant for her, and am now just trying to decide on the setting!

Still not sure whether I should have the shank of the Legato shaved down however. I definitely don't want it to be less than 2.2 mm, think thinner than that and the band looks a bit flimsy, but I also think that her stone is a bit on the larger end, so maybe the original 2.5 band width of the Legato will be good, as the stone and the band width will look proportionate to each other? Plus, I don't want to ruin the look of the design!

Galatine don`t touch the setting!!

2 carat diamond needs the support of a wider setting and 2.5mm is bare minimmum.

I think the Legato is cleary a more modern design and you should def not mess with it!

Blue Nile had this similar one: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-engagement-ring-setting-white-gold_11776
But it was 3mm wide...

How much did you get on the Cut Advisor?
my 0,62c got a 0.9 :)

Best of luck with your purchase!

Don't shave it down, you really do not need to. With such a large diamond the band will look very slim! The taper on top of the hand makes the shank LOOK much much thinner, in fact the shank is likely less than 2.5mm around the top half of the hand, tapering from 2.5 down to about 0.5mm where it meets the diamond.

I agree. I think the setting will be gorgeous with your diamond. I think you could find a diamond band to go with it if you ordered one that is very low to the finger like these (but ask WF to be sure that the height off the finger works with the Legato):

Most Tiffany rings are low enough (but only if you are doing platinum for the rings):

I have the sleek line legato pave set! I picked it because I wanted something dainty and delicate so that the center stone would really stand out. :) I have a 4.75 ring size and 0.65 carat center stone. The setting really makes my diamond look much larger than it is.cell%20phone%20pics%20(through%203-18-12)%20373.jpgcell%20phone%20pics%20(through%203-18-12)%20355.jpg
