I am considering purchasing these, the store told me that they are designer but they don't have any information on them. I did a reverse image search with no results :(2 I am hoping the lovely people here can help me gather more info and make what they are asking is reasonable. The consignment shop wants $125 for them which does sound reasonable but I just want to cross my Ts, the pearls are lovely on them and the earrings actually weigh quite a bit. I am not a big skull fan but these def got my interest

First, $125 is reasonable even if they’re fully costume... if you love them. So there’s that. But I assume the metal isn’t stamped?

They said they are gold but I actually didn't double check, I do believe it if the sales lady told me. She is honest and will correct herself if wrong.

$125 for the pearls alone seems like a steal but I am not sure

Around here consignment shop items drop to 50% off after 30 days...can you stand to wait for the price to drop?
If they are sold before that, how disappointed would you be?
This is the thought process I use to decide whether to buy or wait.

FWIW the pearls look like freshwaters and are not the reason for the price tag. I'd see if they are stamped gold.

It was dropped to half price already, they were $250.00. I could probably haggle some lol

There's another consideration: Do you like heavy earrings? (I find them hard to wear, myself.)

Where would you wear them? How often? If you think you'd wear them a lot and really like them, they are worth it. If you like the way they look on display but don't see yourself actually wearing them much....

Yeah that is something that I am considering as well, right now I could wear them to a burlesque show on Saturday with theme "evil villains" but other than that maybe once a blue moon

Unless they are stamped as such, I'd be surprised if these are actually 14K or even 9K/10K gold. Alexander McQueen, Alexis Bittar, and Betsey Johnson have offered similar skull-and-pearl earrings, but they've always been (so far as I know) plated brass.

I just looked at Alexander McQueen earlier and saw that, they look very McQueen like and with the weight of them I bet that is exactly what they are. See this is why PS is so awesome!

I'd be surprised if they were real gold at that price. Perhaps gold plated?
They'd be great for Halloween and Dia de los Muertos.

The sales lady is going to ask the owner if he happens to have more info and she is going to double check the stamps for me

if it is alexander mcqueen the pearls will be synthetic also if that makes a difference ....i don't think they use any precious metal or natural gems/pearls in their accessories.

MissStepcut,
I'm totally out of the loop when it comes to costume jewelry and have never been interested in it much myself but $125?!?!
Isn't costume jewelry made with glass, plastic, copper, brass, and other inexpensive materials?
Maybe I'm spoiled to live in a place where $125 for any preowned or vintage solid gold earrings (albeit diamond honkers) is pretty expensive, but for costume jewelry that just sounds nuts.
Pardon me for my ignorance if costume jewelry still racks in the $$$ but my whole life I thought that that was apart of the lure of it, that you could wear the more "outrageous" and glamorous jewelry and get a similar effect without the price tag?

Also apologies to the OP for thread jacking but $125 for costume jewelry sounded crazy!

Here’s a pre-owned completely costume necklace over nearly $1k. The skull earrings aren’t Chanel... but they aren’t being sold for $1k either!

Haha, @TheGarnetGirl , we are living in a very authentic, down to earth place. I would even say it is the Land of Enchantment!

You say you are not a skull fan. So are you getting these earrings because they may be a deal or you really like them and will wear them? If the pearls are not plastic, they are probably fresh water pearls and are inexpensive. Yeah, I too am surprised how expensive costume jewelry can be. Some more expensive than a small piece with precious metal and real stones.
