hello all!

So, i recently got my ring from SK and it's slightly big and it's even bigger when its cold (frankly it's always colder in london)/

Logistically there is no point going back to NYC to get it re-size. What is the best way to make the ring fit? I've read about beads and liners..

In your opinion which option is the best!?

Thanks!!

Hi kathness! I know how you feel - my finger size can fluctuate up to an entire size throughout the day...

My sister has the same problem (only hers fluctuates about 1.5 sizes and her knuckle is big. She recently had a bead "hybrid" added to her ring. It's smooth, like beads, but it is like a little notch on the bottom. I will try to get her to send me a pic, so I can post it for you! She loves it and says it works very well. :))

Beads are more useful for folks with swollen knuckles. A liner is good for those who need a small size adjustment and don't wish to cut a piece out of their ring to reduce the size. A liner is a bit more comfortable than beads, but over time you would not notice beads much at all, either. You can install a temporary ring guard or removable shim if you can find one locally. That will give you a bit of time to decide how to permanently alter the way the ring fits.

That would be great if you could show me a picture!! Otherwise, i may need to do something temporary then have it fixed when im back in NYC.

I've seen some photos of the liners, it looks like a better option than the beads for me.

My knuckles are quite a bit bigger than my actual finger size so my jeweler always adds what he call "bridges". I've had sizing beads before and didn't like them. These "bridges" do the trick for me.

I have beads, but I have a huge size discrepancy between my knuckle and my finger.

Whatever you do, I would check with SK first for a recommendation in London, so that your hallmarks stay intact, OR work with SK in getting them done through him. I get not wanting to ship it back and forth, but you don't want a local guy screwing your ring up or removing your identifying marks.

Sure thing! She just sent it to me last night... The photo makes it appear flat and sharp, but it's actually very smooth and rounded at the top, where it touches the finger.

Good luck! :wavey:

I've never seen this before, it looks like a really good idea!

Thanks everyone! There are some really good options!

I have spoken to SK and I think what i will do is wait until I go back to NYC and get it resize then.

I have a temporary *snuggles* rubber thing that stops it from moving. Not the most attractive thing but it will do for now.

I didn't go with the beads and plates etc because of a very vain reason! I was talking to my photographer friends and they said it may not turn out nice during the engagement, wedding photos etc..

^You made the right decision kathness - and I can understand wanting the rings to look nice for wedding photos!
