This ring is a size 5 and I wear a 4. Can this be sized down one size?

It is probably best to see what one of the experts have to say, but I have had similar rings sized down a size or twoo with no problems at all!

If the stones go all the way around, it will be difficult to size by cutting out a bit of metal. However, a little can be added inside and it will become smaller.

If the stones don''t go all the way around, a jeweler could possibly oval the bottom of the ring and reduce the size by 1, but it still might be better to pad the interior. You''d be surprised how little material needs to be added to the interior to change it only one size smaller.

Thanks oldminer
My half eternity is also a bit loose and I was worried re getting it resized, especially as I cant take it back to the original jeweller. I would assume that from what you have written that if I ask for some metal padding on the inside of the ring to make it half a size smaller, that they will know what I mean. It sounds as those this would be lot safer I was worried about the prongs getting pulled out of alignemnt and stones being more prone to falling off. Does it have a technical term, or will my explanation suffice?

thanks again,

A jeweler who knows the business will understand padding the interior to reduce the finger size without much more explanation. He may give you some recommendations as to how to accomplish this on your particular ring. Changing the diameter of a ring does have the potential to loosen stones or to move setting beads. By adding material inside, nothing is altered visually.

Dave, can I ask a similar question but in reverse? Is it possible to size UP an eternity band by removing some of the metal from INSIDE the ring so as not to disturb the setting? I ask because I was looking at a wedding ring that was very special to me, and that was about a size and a half to small for me as well. I desperately wanted to get it sized and people thought I was crazy to suggest they remove metal from the inside of the band to make it larger. Is that also possible? Just curious...Thanks!

i''m not dave, but mara had metal removed from the inside of her wedding band to upsize it, if i remember correctly. her rings were too tight after she got married and started wearing them together.

MrsS., as always, thanks for your insights...I can always count on you for immediate information! Sadly it''s too late for this ring but at least I know it is possible. I wonder how much an eternity band can be sized up though...Thanks for the info!

/\ In the end, I think it comes down to risk. You can have a spacer put in and expand the ring two sizes, but you''ll be sorry if stones start popping out. If it''s a low cost ring with no significance, it might be worth the risk.
