Sizing in NYC?

Hi all,

Many thanks to everyone for their kind comments on my new antique MQ

As it turns out, I think she needs to be size down somewhat (maybe a quarter of a size to a 5.25?). I don't want to go to the hassle of sending her back to Grace in LA and would rather have the sizing done locally, in NYC. Any suggestions as to where I might safely size my ring in Manhattan? I have worked (and will work again) with Yekutiel at IDJ but am unsure if he is willing to size a ring purchased elsewhere.

Many thanks for your suggestions!

Oh, I love your new ring -- it's truly beautiful!

Honestly, I wouldn't size down 1/4 size -- at least, not just yet. The difference in circumference between a 5-1/2 and 5-1/4 is (or perhaps more accurately, should be) just 2/100 of an inch:

I'm now post-menopausal, but when I was menstruating, my fingers would usually swell a tad at those times. And if you're like me, your fingers also swell a bit during NYC's hot and humid months, even when I"m conscientious about drinking lots of water.

If you do decide to go ahead with resizing, please don't feel shy about asking Yekutiel to handle that for you -- check out IDJ's reviews on Yelp & you'll see that they have taken care of repairs on jewelry that was purchased elsewhere:

If you'd like to get an additional price quote from elsewhere, I've been pleased with the several "bench jobs" (including setting colored gems) that Greenwich Jewelers -- downtown, on Trinity Place & Rector Street, behind Trinity Church -- has done for me & I really like the staff there; friends and colleagues have also been happy with them for resizing and repairs.

Will you be wearing a wedding band with it or just that ring alone? Wearing a second band makes the e-ring fit a little tighter, so I also wouldn't size down now unless the ring will be worn alone and your finger is at its largest, as Molly was mentioning.

Thank you both! You are definitely right: I'm going to hold off on sizing for a little while and see how my finger changes with the seasons, and also if I end up putting a wedding band with my e-ring once we get married.

How does anyone manage without PS? Thank you :wavey: :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:
