Hi jewelry experts!

Anyway, I have a question for you all. I have a ring that is sized at 4.75. It fit okay in the summer though it was a tiny bit loose. If I went running and swelled, it felt tight. Now that it''s getting colder, it feels SUPER loose and I''m afraid of losing it. And, it spins so much that the diamond spends a lot of time with the palm of my hand. Should I size it down to a 4.5 which would fit all year unless I swelled? Is there another option?

I also realized I never posted pics of my e-ring for you! I can''t seem to take a non-blurry photo but I''ll keep at it. And, b/c I know you guys like stats, I''ll tell you what I know. It''s a round 1.52 F VS1 set in a shared prong platinum band. This ring means the world to me and I''m so scared of losing it!

Based on what you say I''d size it down. Perhaps take it off for running, but it will fit better most other times.

thanks motown! i was thinking that too but FI is kind of scared that it''ll get too tight. i also have heard that the ering feels tighter when you have a wedding band on. Not sure if that''s true. I''m leaning toward tightening it.

I''ve also heard there are sizing ''balls'' that you can put on the band but i''m not sure how those work.

I actually struggle with this ALL the time. My ring is a half size too big because on any given day, my finger can be a whole size bigger or smaller. Sometimes it's loose, sometimes it's tight. i hate it.

I definitely wouldn't run in it - or exercise at all for that matter, b/c my hands swell for that as well. The only reason i would say size it down is because it's spinning on you. I think that's a good indicator that it's too big for you....plus as the weather gets colder, it's going to get worse. if the only time it felt too tight was when you were working out, i would get it sized so you don't lose it.

looking forward to pics!

ETA: is the shared prong band full eternity or no?

thanks violet. my finger is the same way as yours! when it''s swollen, it''s SWOLLEN. i know i shouldn''t run or work out with it but it''s so hard to take it off!

It''s not a full eternity...it goes about 3/4 of the way around so there''s definitely some room size it.

Both my band and ering are a 4.75 and they are just right when it is warm and a little loose when it is cold. Luckily, it won't slip over my knuckle. This is how I know I have a great fit. When I first got my wedding band the jeweler sized it as a 5 even though I had in writing size 4.75. As soon as I was walking out of the store with my arm down the ring slipped off my finger. I asked them to check the size and yep, it was a 5. I had them redo it.

ETA: I never wear my ring when exercising or gardening.

Sizing bumps! My mom has your same dilemma and had them put on her ring, and she loves them. It took her a couple of days to get used to them, but now she gets all her rings with them. They make a ring fit tighter and not spin as much, but if your finger swells there''s some room for that- more so than sizing a ring down.

In case you have no clue what I''m ranting about here

, they''re two little tiny balls soldered to the inside of the band at like, 4 o''clock & 8 o''clock. I tried her ring on and yeah, you can kinda feel them if you think about it, but they''re very unobtrusive.

Hi,
I have just got my solasfera last Monday... i shall be posting pictures for all to see within the next few days.

I realised that my size is 13 in Asia. So I had it done in size 6... but it is too big for me.. I think 5 or 5 1/2 would be better for me.
Any advise what to do now.. the ring is too loose and if i pull it out quickly, it just came out of my engagement finger...

Someone can advise me a good solution? Should I resize it? I am afraid that the stone will be "swop" away if I put it at a jeweller here.

According to the girls at GOG, sizing beads that are squished down a little bit into sizing ovals (sort of?) are more comfortable and have virtually no "getting used to" time. I''m giving my five stone a few wearings this fall and winter and if it still spins, I''m going right over to GOG for two little squished beads :-).

Since you said it fit okay in the summer and was even a tiny bit loose (except while running), I think you would be fine sizing down a quarter size. I do not wear my ring while exercising because my fingers swell quite a bit when running. I''d rather have to take my ring off when exercising or in any extreme heat wave than risk losing it the other 90% of the time!

There''s also this horseshoe looking thing used for sizers. I''m not sure what your plans are about babies, but I''ve read that your finger can get bigger once you have them so if you size it down, you may be sizing it back up later. Hope that helps!

I never wear my ring running, because of the funk factor- as well as safety reasons.

Plus depending on how big your wedding band is, it could force the ering to a diferent spot on the finger where it may fit differently.

I can relate. Just today I picked up my ring after having it sized down 1/4 size from 5 3/4 to 5 1/2. When I was initially measured, the sales woman wrote down 5 3/4 assuming that I''d need room for swelling. But it turns out, I didn''t need that much room. I got the ring in April and I can recall a handful of times since then when it felt tight. But the problem was that in cold climates, air conditioned buildings, in the airports, and when I wash my hands it was ready to slip off. I agree with others who said, better to have it fit 90% of the time with less chance of losing it, so I sized mine down. Even sized down, my ring still slides easily on my finger but my knuckle is big so it keeps it from falling off. I''m happy with my decision.
