You can compensate up to about 2 finger sizes with this sort of alteration. Pronabably a bit more compensation with a horshoe than with bumps. If you have flshy fingers, these things work best. Boney fingers have little for these to grip.

I have bumps because I couldn''t handle the spinning and my band is too thin for a horseshoe (or so I was told). I think there''s about 1/2 or 3/4 size difference between my knuckle and where the ring sits. The bumps make it pretty tight over my knuckle but it doesn''t hurt or anything when I slide it on and off (which I don''t do often). The only time the bumps ''bite'' me a little are when I''m carrying heavy bags, like after grocery shopping, and when it''s nasty humid out like it is right now and my fingers swell up. I wish I didn''t need them, but even when they''re occasionally uncomfortable it''s still better than the spinning!
