I had a few more specific threads on this, but if anyone has experience with sizing beads and/or horseshoe sizers, please let me know. Please state the difference in size between your knuckle and ring area, to give some idea of how much size difference they are compensating for. Thanks!

You can compensate up to about 2 finger sizes with this sort of alteration. Pronabably a bit more compensation with a horshoe than with bumps. If you have flshy fingers, these things work best. Boney fingers have little for these to grip.

I have what tiffany called "large" sizing beads in a stacking ring. I like them, they pretty much do their job, they only hurt if the ring gets turned around in my sleep and I wake up with swollen fingers
No experience with horseshoe though. I''d guess my beads reduce the ring size by one half a size.

Thanks, oldminer & FF! Anyone else?

Unfortunately, down at the ring area, my fingers are probably more thin than fleshy...

I don''t know why I don''t think of these questions the first time I answer....

I''m assuming that the part about fleshy fingers is true of both horseshoe & bumps?

How long does it usually take for those horseshoe sizers to wear out?

LOL!
I read that as "fishy" fingers, and was trying to figure out what that meant!

I have sizing bumps in a couple of rings. I''m not really trying to make up for a lot of size difference - the rings are just top heavy and prone to spin. The bumps do help but my rings are fairly tight so it took a while for me to get used to them. One of my rings is a 5.5 with bumps when it should really be a 5.25. Even with the bumps it spins a little. I''ve not tried a horseshoe.

Thanks, Irish Breakfast. Anyone else????

no one??

I have bumps because I couldn't handle the spinning and my band is too thin for a horseshoe (or so I was told). I think there's about 1/2 or 3/4 size difference between my knuckle and where the ring sits. The bumps make it pretty tight over my knuckle but it doesn't hurt or anything when I slide it on and off (which I don't do often). The only time the bumps "bite" me a little are when I'm carrying heavy bags, like after grocery shopping, and when it's nasty humid out like it is right now and my fingers swell up. I wish I didn't need them, but even when they're occasionally uncomfortable it's still better than the spinning!

THanks, Octavia!

Hey OFG,
Still deciding? I decided to try beads first, since they are not expensive and easy to put in and take out.
My setting is going to be quite delicate as well.
If I find them uncomfortable, I''ll try the horseshoe sizer,
And thanks, I did check with my local B, B, and B and the jeweler there does use them, but they call them
something else? I think they call them a butterfly clamp? (am I making that up?)
