Does anyone have any experience with sizing beads that the jewelers put in to keep the ring from spinning and help it sit more snugly on your finger? Is it comfortable? Does it do the job?

My ring seems about a 1/4 too big but I haven''t decided if I want to resize it yet since some days it fits more snugly than others. I''m considering sizing beads as a potential perfect solution to keep the ring from spinning and also help it fit better... and if for whatever reason I want my ring to go back to its original size, it''s easier to remove the beads than have the ring sized up. I''d like some advice and opinions please!

I really love them. My e-ring was an antique setting that turned out to be un-sizeable. I wear a somewhere between a 5 and 4 3/4, and the ring was a 7ish. So it was HUGE on me- falling-off huge. The sizing beads I have are consequently pretty large. I still can''t feel them at all when it''s on. When I''m warm and my fingers are bigger, it is a really nice fit- no spinning at all, and just right. When I''m cold it spins a bit, as it''s still pretty big on me. I think if I had a ring that was barely too big, I would go with the beads in a heartbeat, since they really do make the ring a lot better fit as your finger changes sizes a bit.

Loved them when my ering was top heavy.

I have sizing beads in my eternity wedding band. At first it was weird, but I''m so used to it now, I don''t even notice it. I like the fact that it keeps my ring from moving around. I also did the beads so they wouldn''t have to take out any diamonds or sapphires!

Sounds like it might be the right choice for me. I''m concerned that I heard that sizing beads could be uncomfortable since they''re like two little pressure points, but it doesn''t seem like anyone has that problem?

One of my best friends was forced to use sizing beads in her ring becase it had a very ornate set of engravings in the Platinum around the band -- they did not want to lose any of the detailing or destroy the work of the ring (it was purchased from an antique vendor). She had a lot of discomfort in the begining and was strongly considering just taking the band size in, regardless of how it changed the look of the band, but everyone encouraged her to wait a little longer. Now, she doesn''t mention it or seem to notice, so I think it is a matter of getting used to it.

I am considering the same thing, as I am in between sizes by about 1/4 of a size, and have a top heavy e-ring. Right now, it is still being constructed, and I am not sure if I should order the larger size just in case, or if I should order the more fitted band to keep it from rolling on my finger. I feel like that would take away so much from how much work we have put into it, and sizing it seems like small change in comparison to how much you spend on erings in the long run.

Let me know how yours works out for you, and whether you like them.

I also wonder if slimmer fingers find them more comfortable than thicker ones, because the pressure is more evenly distriibuted. If you try them, post an update here and let us know how they worked out for you.

I don''t have sizing beads, but I have a "horse-shoe" insert (like the second insert in Stci''s link). I got the insert because my ring was not sizable and I lost weight so it was getting dangerously loose... now with the insert it fits perfectly and also had the added benefit of not spinning (my ring was very top heavy and was always spinning before I had the insert put in).

I just read on Leon''s micropave.com site that he is making rings with diamond sizing balls! He has patented the technique where the diamonds are protruding inside the ring. It is under his heading ''collection'',
blue flash! I love this idea!! Now if I just had a ring that was too big!!!

Maybe he can put them in your ring!

That''s an interesting find! I went and read about it on his site, too bad there''s no pictures of how that would look to help me visualize.

I used to have sizing beads in all my rings but on the advice of my jeweler moved to bridges. I find the bridge to be a much more comfortable alternative.
