I wondered if anyone could help! i don''t know if to get a colour I thats slightly bigger or a colour h that is smaller.

What do you think?

I''d love a big sparkly one. They are both ideal cut?

personal preference, depends on which you value more.

Personally, I would go for the bigger stone. Given that they are both ideal cut I feel it maybe very difficult to see the difference in color especially when they are set. I proposed to my fiancee with an I color stone and it faces up very white. I can only see a slight smidge of color from the side in certain lighting conditions. In fact we actually like the slight color. Have you seen the stones in person and side by side? Can you see the color difference? But in the end it is all what you prefer.

John

It''s a total personal preference IMO. I am color sensitive and either like diamonds to be G or a high H in color or around M and below. I just don''t care for the slightly tinted so for me, I''d go smaller and a higher color. However some people aren''t as sensitive or really do like a certain range of color so they would go larger with lower color. Though I would be very willing to go for an even larger and much lower color than some would be willing to go.

So there is no right or wrong answer. Just what you like best!

i haven''t seen the exact stones but i looked at g, h and j colours in excellent cut and kinda thought i didnt want the i - although it did still seem nice, just not as sparkly for some reason.

But i want a bigger one! So trying to figure out if i should sacrifice the colour a bit for the size. It''s hard to make up my mind!!! But thanks for the help. My sister says size too, but my mum thinks nicer colour.

I don''t know!!!!

What definition of 'ideal' are you using, and what are the makes you're considering within that definition? 'Ideal cut' has many definitions, encompassing a range of looks that can be more visible than a color grade or two. For that matter I'm presuming these color grades were assigned by GIA/AGS, but probably good to verify that?

And how much bigger is slightly bigger?

Hi Lexy

John brings up some very important points here, we cannot offer you any meaningful advice without knowing which labs graded the stones such as GIA, AGS or other and also knowing more about the cut quality of each stone. The term Ideal Cut is no guarantee of any level of cut quality so it is essential we have at least the basic info on each diamond such as all the proportions and cut grade if applicable at a minimum.

Thanks for all your advice guys.

The diamonds are GIA certified

The first one is I 6.67mm across, ideal cut
The other one is H 6.52mm, ideal cut

They are both round brilliant SI2 but eye clean

What do you think??

I am not a ton of help, but can add, that I received a J whiteflash aca last week. I love it! I don''t see any tint to it. I wouldn''t hesitate to go J again! Good luck to you!

Lexy,

Can you post either the GIA report numbers and exact carat weight please or the info listed below,

GIA cut grade
depth %
table %
crown and pavilion angles
girdle thickness
polish and symmetry grades
diameter in MM
star and lower girdle facet percentages

Also what are the grade making inclusions for the SI2 grade as mentioned on the report please? Examples are clouds, feathers and so on.

Have you seen both in person to know they are eyeclean to your specifications or have you been advised of this by the seller?

I diamond is

GIA cut grade - ideal
depth % 62.3%
table % 56%

crown and pavilion angles ??
girdle thickness ??

polish and symmetry grades Excellent
diameter in MM 6.67
star and lower girdle facet percentages ??

H diamond is

GIA cut grade - ideal
depth % 60.9%
table % 56%
crown and pavilion angles 32.5, 41
girdle thickness Thin to slightly thick faceted (3.5%)
polish and symmetry grades Excellent
diameter in MM 6.52
star - 55% and lower girdle facet percentages ???

is that enough info?
clouds and feathers on the SI2 but only been advised by the seller!.....

GIA do not issue an 'ideal' cut grade.

Need more data for the I stone.

can you get the GIA numbers and carat weight?

I''m color sensitive. . .if the diamonds are similar in weight, I''d go with the higher color. Personally, unless the diamond was for a pendant or earrings, I''d want an H or better. I''ve picked smaller stones for higher color.

Are you setting in yellow or white metal, that can make a difference too. If you are doing yellow, the I will look whiter once set.
theres no way you can look at both these to decide? Can they even send you a video or something?

You will not be able to see that diameter difference in real life. Go for the higher color.
