Hello, Im recently in the market for an engagement ring and Im having some issues with size of a diamond. Im debating between 3 diamonds.

1) 4.83mm x 4.85mm x 3.01mm $800 .43 G VS2 Depth: 62.2 Table: 57 CRN Angle: 34.5 Pav Ang: 40.8 EX Cut, EXPolish, EXSymm.
2)5.17mm x 5.20mm x 3.11mm $1400 .50 D VS2 Depth: 60 Table: 56 CRN Angle: 33 Pav Ang: 40.8 EX Cut, VGPolish, VGSymm.
3)5.03mm x 5.06mm x 3.02mm $1200 .47 G VS2 Depth: 59.9 Table: 58 CRN Angle: 33 Pav Ang: 40.8 VG Cut, EXPolish, VGSymm

You can see my dilemma. A $600 difference with one and a $400 difference with the other. The size does not seem to be different, but I have picked out a 4mm setting, and I think Im at my minimum with size. Any advice from someone that has experience with diamonds of this size would be appreciated. Thank you.

These are Round Brilliant Cut.

honestly, I''d get this:

the .5 you picked will look visibly bigger than the .43, but I don''t like paying for things I can''t see (D VS2) I''d be happier with a G-H SI1.

What do you mean that you picked a 4mm setting...is the band 4mm, or is the head for the diamond 4mmm?

Looks like Bella found you a great option!

Is your girlfriend very color sensitive? I used to think a diamond wasn''t that good if it was less than H in color (because of something my mom once said when I was little that stuck). But as I started checking things out for myself I realized that I prefer "warmer" stones even though they still look bright white to me anyway... plus I have darker skin so just about everything looks whiter on me too.

Anyhow, I said all that to see if your girlfriend has a preference for color or do you just want to stick with a D? Honestly though, I think H-I-J''s are still very white.

Thank you for your response. I too, do not like paying for things I can not see. Thats Why I was wondering if a .34 mm smaller is really noticable. The diamond you showed me is nice. But the settings are a bit expensive. So, You can not see the difference between an H SI1 and a D VS2??? I have seen SI`s in stores and these things are ugly. Of course it could be the poor cut as well. Also, the band I was considering is 4mm.

If you can see a difference between an H and a D, that means you''re more color sensitive. I have diamonds ranging from D through G and can tell the difference. My E is cut better than my D, so it looks whiter and brighter. That said, I think that a G adds a nice hint of warmth that compliments the diamond and most likely would go with a G again over a D or E.

0.3mm makes a huge difference visually in these sizes. I wouldn''t go D VS either - you''d be perfectly safe with an H/I/J SI.
