After everyone was so helpful with a previous post, I am hoping to see some pictures of rings on hands of people...

My girlfriend has a size 7.25 ring finger (UK O and a 1/2). I'd love to see a few peoples rings if anyone has a similar ring finger sizeso I can get an idea of diamond size difference in context. I am looking at anything from 1.3 through to 2 round cut solitaire set in a fairly slim setting (maybe pave setting like the 1895).

Budget wise 1.5 carat is about right. I could go to 2, but I am also saving for a house deposit.... I want it to look like a good size, she works in a fairly snooty part of London and as modest as she is I want something that is a good size. I've seen rings sparkling away in the bond street jewellers but without it being on her hand it is hard to see how it looks size wise. Plus one shop said 7.25 was a big finger size and that I'd need to bear that in mind.... so now I am thinking some of the pictures I have seen of 1.5's that look huge might have been on people who have tiny hands :)

These are old threads but hopefully you can get a rough idea;

I don't think a 1.50 carat stone in the UK is small. If in doubt you could always go for something in between like a 1.60 to 1.80 to get great finger coverage without the 2.00 carat price tag. And remember a decent cut is what gives a diamond the fire and sparkle. Badly cut stones tend to look smaller because they do not have edge to edge brightness.

Anything over 0.5ct is big in the UK, IMHO!!!

Here is a pic of my 1.19ct EC on my right hand ring finger which is an European Size 57, US Size 8 and UK Size Q, the shank is 2.5mm wide at the shoulders:

The ring was made as a 9.5 US with the intention to wear on my RH middle finger. However, my finger has grown a full size since 2004 when it was made. Hence I wear it with a Titanium band to hold it in place on my RH ring finger.

I am planning to re-set the EC in a halo with an air line gap and a wider shank to increase the finger coverage for the RH middle finger. It is rather weedy as it is.

I do not have a MRB to be able to help, sorry!

How about setting the stone in a halo to give it more oomph? :naughty:

Good luck with your purchase!

DK :))
