The acid test gave me 10k gold but what heart shaped gem? I'm hoping it's not a fake gemstone and I really could not find the answer.? Please help if you know? 20231210_192816.jpg 20231210_192948.jpg 20231210_193140.jpg

Ok, I'll chime in:

1. Stone has large simple facets which indicate it could be a rhinestone/glass. The cut it typical for fake stones.

2. Stone doesn't have an open back, which is another indicator it could be fake, this is typical of rhinestones. Semiprecious and precious stones have an open back to let the light go through because they don't need to be foiled on the back in order to sparkle. You will rarely see proper jewellery where the back of the stone is covered, almost never, unless it's intentional for some reason.

3. Edge/rim/girdle of the stone appears on top photo right corner, meaning the stone seems to be glued into the bezel, another sign it's a fake stone. The bezel should have covered that if it actually held the stone in place.

4. You cannot see where the metal peg of the earring is going, looks like it's glued to the back of the stone, another sign it is fake.

Hope this helps, you know, for educational purposes ;)2
