Happy New Year!

Can't think of anything better than starting the New Year with a search for diamond earrings for my wife. I came here for amazing advice on an engagement ring three years ago.

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/thanks-for-the-help-wf-picture.87915/
1.23c, ACA, G, SI1 on WF Tiffany modification in platinum.

I was hoping the group could help me narrow my search a bit based on her ring.

Based on some informal discussions I have gathered the following from her when it comes to diamond earrings:
-She has a slight preference of size over quality compared to her diamond ring.
-Her style is simple, classic and clean - something like a round stud and wants something that she can wear to work or out to a nice evening.
-She loves Brian the Cutter.

I purchased the ring from WhiteFlash and would prefer to go with them but open to other options if another vendor might have an edge on diamond earrings. Knowing what I know now, my budget is around $2000 but can adjust as I learn more.

Advice on clarity ranges, size ranges based solely on the above info? Not looking for an exact answer but just something to use as guidance. Also, should I assume that platinum hardware would be best for earrings to match her ring or is another metal advised?

Our anniversary is March 1 so I'm trying to have the earrings before then.

Thanks much!

Hi and welcome! I would stick with white gold (unless she has an allergy?) for earrings because it will match the ring just fine and it is lighter. As far as round studs I don't think you can go wrong with those! 'Brian the Cutter' is at Brian Gavin Diamonds now, but WF also has top quality studs. I would just call whatever vendor you want to work with and tell them your preferences/budget and see what they come up with. For studs I think you can go lower in color/clarity since you won't be looking at them up close and since you said size is important...so maybe I color?

Also there are a lot of different settings for studs...do you know what she would like?

the size of the stone could create weight issues and end up 'tipping forward' on her ear. Be sure to express that concern when you are selecting styles, so you can be guided to ones that will remain flush or upright on her ears. Dropping ---- not a good thing! :Up_to_something:

If you'll give me your budget, I'll show you some matched pairs! WF and BG do usually have the best supplies of matched pairs. And I think you safely can go to H or I color for studs.

You are actually in luck because Brian Gavin has $175 off settings for studs right now!

Duh! I see you said your budget in the first post! Sadly, diamonds went up like crazy in 2011, so you'll find the prices high. But the great thing is, you can always upgrade with BG.

These would be the two pair I would suggest:

Round 0.414 H SI1 AGS - Ideal $950 total $1,868

Round 0.406 H SI1 AGS - Ideal $918

Round 0.404 G SI1 AGS - Ideal $975 total $1,973

Round 0.412 G SI1 AGS - Ideal $998

Ask if she'd rather have 3 prong martini settings or 4 prong baskets. They will be free if you go with 14k white gold or discounted by $175 if she wants platinum. I would not pay for platinum if you plan to upgrade later because you'll need new settings at that time.

Thanks so much to you all for the feedback and apologies for the delay in response. I've been running numbers and doing more research. I'm now smarter with a bit higher budget ($3500).

I love many of the options with Brian Gavin but eliminated them as an option since it seems the diamond upgrade option is a bit restricted. I might want to get a larger diamond with a lower clarity and color.

We offer a Lifetime Upgrade Policy on Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows certified diamonds. This does not apply to jewelry that contains diamonds.
•Apply the original purchase price (less shipping) towards your upgrade and pay the difference.

We also offer a Lifetime Upgrade Policy on Brian Gavin Blue diamonds. This does not apply to jewelry that contains diamonds.
•When upgrading to another Brian Gavin Blue Stone apply the original purchase price (less shipping) towards your upgrade and pay the difference.
•When upgrading to a Brian Gavin Signature Hearts and Arrows diamond, apply 95% of the original purchase price (less shipping) and pay the difference.

ALL upgrades need to include two of the three following variables - size, color and clarity, additional charges my apply at time of upgrade .

WF has a policy that even if you only spend $5 more than the original purchase you can upgrade based on the cost of the diamond (not the setting). I wrote BG to make sure I was interpretting their above FAQ correctly.

I have ordered from WF before and happy with them so trying to stick with them. My budget has changed slightly and here is what I'm shooting for now:

My main hesitation is that my wife currently wears fake 2 carat earrings but I always like to choose quality over size. I slightly dropped quality (going from ACA to Expert Selection) but don't think I should target the lowest quality cut, clarity, and color just to get huge, boring rocks.

Any thoughts on the selection I have are appreciated. Really just need some feedback on what I selected and my logic for going with WF.

Thanks!

Then again, I just found some slightly larger diamonds at BG with a little lower color/clarity.

.710c, I, SI2, GIA-Excellent, $2,167
.710c, I, SI1, GIA-Excellent, $2,411

If I needed to get a larger size down the road it's wouldn't be a stretch to go to a better color or cut since BG requires 2 of the 3 to be increased for an updrade.

I welcome your wisdom.
