Hello, as I am relatively new my apologies if this isn't the correct section for this post! I've been lurking on here for a little while now as I am beginning to look into buying an engagement ring to propose to my girlfriend within the next 6-8 months. While she does not want to pick out the ring herself, she did tell me she likes split shank halo style ring, but the rest is up to me. After doing a lot of research online and on this site, I am most likely going to be purchasing the ring from White Flash or Brian Gavin.

In my hunt for a setting that I thought she would love I came across the Simon G LP 2027 on White Flash's site: https://www.whiteflash.com/engageme...2027-passion-diamond-engagement-ring-3555.htm

While there is the video and picture there of the "on finger" view it looks to be CGI'd on? With that said I was wondering if any members here have a ring with this setting and if they could post a picture of it as well as the size of their center stone! Thanks in advance!

You might ask WF if they have any actual photos of that ring. Just a thought.

Also, did she specifically identify that exact ring as the one she wanted? Only asking because, not only is it a split shank, but it has a halo and it has a twist that isn't normal. Not saying it doesn't look beautiful but it's a very specific look that she may or may not appreciate if she didn't ask for it.

What I've found to be challenging when helping people with split shanks is the distance between the split and consequently the angle/shape it has on the overall ring. For instance, even though I like the Park Ave overall look I feel it needs a bigger split.

A few examples...

Yeah, a split shank halo is a tricky setting. the one you linked is a very specific look and i woulnd't really call it a split shank. SO many split shank settings are just a huge split shank and it overwhelms the halo and stone or its just so miniscule it looks disproportionate with the halo.

my favorite settings in this style are by Gabriel NY, this one being my favorite:

also really pretty: https://www.gabrielny.com/engagement-ring/ER12830R4W44JJ

Love that first Gabriel one that @farrahlyn linked. I think it's a perk you get a cushion halo out of the deal and all the brilliance and fire of a round center stone!

Might ask WF if they have something similar or can custom make it.

So she did not identify this exact ring, though she did say she likes unique settings. I know the Park Avenue design is definitely too small of a split and that would not be one she likes and she would not like the Allegro D because she did say split shank halo and that one does not have a halo.

And thank you for the suggestion to reach out to Whiteflash for images, I will definitely do that!

I like that first one a lot! I am a bit worried that the Simon G may be a bit too unique and I feel like that Gabriel one is a safer bet and a beautiful ring!

Yeah, I was thinking of going the custom route. At this point it is likely that will be what I end up doing.

great cost savings!

DSC_2134.jpg The SimonG setting is what I have. It's very well made, I've had it since 2012 and I've never lost a stone.

What do you wear for a wedding band?

@rockysalamander

Usually I wear a thin eternity band, sometimes a larger one.

It is a bit of an unusual setting and I've never seen anyone else with it, although I'm sure they're out there.

Exactly- that's what I prefer about the setting. It's different from all the other waaaay too prevalent trendy settings nowadays.

The Simon G ring is not exactly what I think of when "split shank". For that reason, I would probably not go with that setting unless she saw it. It might not be exactly what she was thinking about. When I think of 'split shank with a halo', I think of Brian Gavin's Kristen or Marcela settings.

Thank you so much for posting these pictures! The ring looks absolutely stunning! Do you mind if I ask the size of your center stone?
