Oh by the way, was planning on buying at a store that sells the Michael B...actually priced the setting for $3600 at Charleston Alexander''s and that seems to be the cheapest I could find so far. Plus they can send it to MB for setting.

if she want''s a princess, get her a princess. yes, the MB settings tend to make rounds look a bit square but certainly not like a princess. I think you should get the largest stone you feel comfortable buying. If it 1.5 that''s still a very nice size and i''m sure your gal will be thrilled with it.

By all means get what she loves the most! I only said that because it sounded like the princess was a sudden change in preference. It will be a gorgeous ring with either stone, but it has been said on this forum many times that princess cuts will come and go in style just as other fancy shape stones have. Marquise was very popular at some point (maybe 20 years ago?) and now you rarely see someone get one, as an example. I do think the prongs on the MB princess make the stone have a squarish look even if it is a round. I love that setting. The $3600 is for the regular princess (2.2mm)? If so, that is a terrific price! It is $3950 at Pearlman''s. Is the store in NC? I might consider that setting at $3600! I wonder if there is a matching wedding band...did she try those on with it? (Did you go to dental school at Chapel Hill? Many of our dentists in our town went there.)
