Just musing here.. I have money burning a hole in my pocket and I want to reset my stone... In a 3 stone ring - what shapes look good with a cushion BESIDES other cushions? It''s really too bad there aren''t step cut pears or something lol What about a couple little octavias? I liked MMM''s ring but I personally don''t want the redundancy, not to mention finding two matching cushions is a pita. Most shapes look good with rounds but I''m not sure about that either... I don''t want the side stones to outperform the center... any thoughts?

Leon Mege's website is a great resource for viewing examples of really well balanced three stone rings just browse his 3 stone rings for some inspiration.

I know he has used well balanced shields, traps, half moons, baguettes, cushions and pears to go with vintage style cushions like yours.
I really like the classical antique look with flanking baguettes or step cut narrow shields or half moons.

I love Bebe''s Leon...cushion with step traps!

+1

I LOVE Bebe''s Leon. It is one of my all time faves. But I also think there''s something about half moons that are so romantic, so appealing. A LM similar to Kaleigh''s (though her centre stone is an oval) would be absolutely divine!

Ugh Forum garbled my links!
Half Moons and Here
Step Cut Shields
Shields East West Centre
Ovals
Traps and Here and Bigger Traps

After looking at the links that ChunkyCushionLover posted, my vote is definitely for the half moons!

Hmm... I like the half moons with bullets best I think... but I still don''t love any of them. Rounds are just so dang easy to accessorize!!!!! My current stone is long for a cushion 1:1.26 and if I had two 1:1 stones that had the same facet structure, table size, diameter, crown height, etc etc etc I think that would look the best... but I think I could search a lifetime for two matching cushions like that - and in the end would I like it better than a solitaire? Ugh... thanks you guys for this discussion... it helped - it really did! haha

Cehra, when Widget wanted a three stone with all cushions for her sapphire Leon had some side stones custom cut to match for her. Plus BGD does custom stone cutting. I KNOW it sounds like an even greater PITA than a custom setting, but it is an option. Personally I love the bullets best. Have you seen the Cadilac diamonds? Not sure if I spelled it right, but they are sidestones, stunning, and would probably look amazing with your center.

If you want to reset I''d consider Durnell since you liked her work and I''d ask her opinion or recommendation.

I love three stones. If I had a larger center stone, that would have been my choice. By far. Not three asschers though. Don''t care for the look on my hand. But those Cadilacs or bullets. Wooo hoo!

I vote for half moons. Can I vote twice?

Thanks Gypsy - those are really cool looking - like super squat shields :) It made me think, the perfect thing to have would be half-cushions lol Seriously... especially if they were as long as my stone is wide.... somehow I don''t think I have THAT much money burning a hole!!! I will go look at the durnell website again, I didn''t see she was doing custom - I thought the piece she''d consder doing for you was a special situation...
