I have a friend who is considering getting a 3 stone ring. she asked if she should get certified side stones or if it matters. I think she is looking in the .3-.5 range. I honestly couldn't tell her what to do - but I knew lots of folks who could weigh in! So, what do you think? Certified or no for side stones of that size? Thanks!

I would with .30 or up. I don't see how you could judge the cut without it.

I would want them certed. Jsut for piece of mind id want to know about cut color and fluor, just to make sure all stones will match in all lighting.

I would, especially if the center will be an ideal cut. You don't want the sides to be terribly cut with no sparkle, so I'd want them to be certed and of equal cut quality.

My side pears are each 0.35 carats and GIA certed (I wanted to know all the characteristics of all three stones used in my dream ring so that they would all match in color, clarity, and cut). =)

definitely go for certified diamonds at this carat size range.

thanks everyone - I'll pass it on!
