Hey Guys,

Ok so I have decided to set my 2 carat round with side baguettes but I am all confused with the baguette measurements! Most rings i see online that I like list the carat of them but not the actual mm size. I am hoping ye guys can shed some light,

My 2 carat is 8mm and I want the baguettes chunkier rather than thinner. Any advice on what size sides I should go for for good proportions?

I was thinking maybe 4.5 x3.5 but what's confusing me even more is that I have baguettes on my oval halo, they are 3.5x2.5x2 and look tiny. Half the times i barley even notice they are there! I'm not sure an extra mm is going to give me what i want!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

No asnwer but I vote tapered baguettes with a round center-stone.

That’s what I’m planning if I can work out the baguette sizes :)

What’s your ring size? You can make a paper band and draw the stone shapes on it in various sizes to give you a better idea of how big you can go. Of course the baguettes will be tilted so it’s not exact, but I find it helps to visualize. You just need a ruler with mm on it, an index card and some tape, lol.

Better yet, buy this ring and see how you like it. It has an 8mm stone and it will give you a better feel for how much coverage you’ll get. It’s going to be more than an oval for sure.

I’d personally work with a jewelry designer to figure out exact MM sizes, I wouldn’t try to buy side stones myself personally- that seems unnecessarily complicated

these are obviously not the right shape, but here’s a “chunky” look

Here’s another one with a different look, obviously much larger center

there is also a whole thread with @MamaBee’s journey going with baguette sides

Hi MW, i am a size 6. I have tried to draw them out 100 times but when you are looking at 2.5mm V 3mm its hard to be accurate! I usually end up with a blob ha ha

Its a good idea though to try and get an inexpensive cz ring to test out, i'm not in US so the one you sent is not available but I must have a look around and see what I can find.

Hi Cerulean, I do like the look of this picture and the chunkier baguettes so that gives me an idea, although I don't want bezel set! The links were very helpful, I got a good few ideas about what I want and don't want eg I want the baguettes angled so they are almost flush with the band, i don't want a wing effect!

Also with regards working with a jewelry designer, unfortunately they are few and far between here in Ireland! There is one good gold smith in my town that makes jewelry and his work is quality however he is from the school of tell me what you want and I will do it!! I paid him a visit to discuss and he basically told me tell him the size I want and he will see if he can source them!

If there are an Irish PS'ers on here who can suggest someone that could help I would be must grateful!

Hello,

so I have been trying to work out sizes and have landed on 4.5x3.25. My center is 8mm.

anyone have similar sizes baguettes that the can send a pic of. I don’t want them to overpower the center but do want to be able see them rather than have them blend into the band.
Thanks.
