Hi folks,

I purchase a diamond (with a return policy) graded SI1 by GIA with a knot and feather (with this order).
The diamond has nice proportions, cut is excellent as well as polish. Light performance is also nice.

When looking with a 10x loupe the diamond is eye clean. The knot can be seen when examining from the right angle.Feather is small and not an issue.

When looking with 20x loupe, from below, it is hard to see the knot (it is white and not black) but then I could see that it it is like a narrow “rope” starting from inside in the pavilion and coming out exactly on the girdle (thin). Surface area of the knot is not the material part of this inclusion.

Two questions please:
1. Can this type of knot come out?
2. Can the knot come out slowly? Get crumbled?
3. If I place the claw of the ring exactly on the knot can it help to protect the diamond ?

Thanks

1. any knot can come out.
2. they can get lose and come out over time.
3. no by but not over..to the side not front or back of ring.

First of all....you requested two answers, yet listed three questions.....did you want to make sure we were watching???...lol!!

Seriously, while it is possible for a knot to come loose over time, the likelihood of that happening is next to never. Remember, before it reached your hands it underwent the incredibly intrusive stresses of diamond cutting and then boiling in acid. If, after all that, it didn't come out, it's going to take a whole lot to change that aspect.
I'm not saying you should keep- or return the diamond- although it sounds as though you like it.
In general- speaking for myself...if an SI1 is priced advantageously, I prefer them to VS1 if they we're talking about an eye clean SI1

IN terms of setting....find a setter you can trust- and let them guide you.

You are perfectly named for replying to the OP, @Rockdiamond :D lol

Diamonds chip and break for all sorts of reasons - but the chance of a knot - especially pavilion side - causing damage is 1,0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 to on1
