Hi Everyone,

I just joined Price Scope, seems like a good forum to share ideas.

Needed some advice. I am thinking of purchasing a pair of 2.5 ct Asscher cut diamonds to wear as studs. was wondering what setting should i do for the earrings. I don't want to make a drop earring since I want to wear them everyday. I am keen on putting a jacket of yellow diamonds around not sure what pointers.

Does anyone have any recommandations or any pictures of asscher cut earrings. It would be helpful :)

I'll just mention that asschers are not going to have the impact on the ears that a brilliant cut stone would have. And the square shapes would be somewhat hard to keep turned the same way. I do have an asscher in a ring, but I don't think I would like them in earrings. A halo around them will add some sparkle, but it will also make them a little dressy for everyday. But to answer your question, there maybe has been someone here with asscher earrings before, but not more than one or two in the 7 years I have been here.

Here's some eye candy for inspiration:

Where are you buying the stones from? Don't skimp on cut quality - they need to be well cut or they'll just look watery and flat instead of sparkling and showing off the light like they should. You can't buy asschers by the numbers - they need to be evaluated by a vendor who knows what he is doing.

Leon Mege, who I linked above, does have a diamond concierge service where he'll help find you the center stones. But if I were you I'd call Jon at Good Old Gold and tell him what you want and he'll; find a nice matching pair that perform beautifully!

This is a "Let's Learn About Asschers" video:

and this is an example of some stones he recently found for a client:

Thanks for the help Ecf - Not sure where i am going to get the diamonds from but tutuorial was very infomative. It's true when buying fancy shapes, have to be really particular. I went through the leon website - didn't find anything i particulary liked thou. Do you think think putting a jacket of yellow diamonds would look good ?

@diamondseeker - I agree brillant cut diamonds are the best solitaire. However, I have 1 ct earrings already and just thinking to get a jacket for the time being for those. I though Asscher cut will be something different, i like that cut from all the fancy shapes. What do you think ? Someone suggested to go for radiant cut but my heart is set on Assher. You are right the earrings won't be for a everday, will stick with the round for that.

I agree with DS totally. I think the asscher cut would be fabulous as dangles but I wouldn't love them set as studs. They would keep turning. Why don't you have jackets in the yellow diamonds made for your 1 carat and make the halo square to look like they are asscher cut.

i dont have a problem with them turning? I vean pear studs that look lovely and those turn all over the place. People often have princess cut studs too, again, I dont see a big deal with them being at two different angles. My concern would be the size. Asschers face up so small that i wouldnt want to pay the amount youd have to to get a good size.
