The following pieces all belonged to my mother. These three rings have a lot of emotion attached to them, and I confess I never wear them for that reason.

Vintage_Assorted_Rings_Front.jpg
The leftmost is circa 1980, made of 14kt yellow gold, with either white gold or platinum prongs. I don't know how much the diamonds amount to carat-wise, but they seem to be of decent colour and clarity and are very sparkly. (They look terribly grey in the photo, but they aren't like that in person.) The middle ring is from Iran, circa 1970, with a Persian turquoise that has gradually started to turn green over the years. The metal is a mystery. It can't be gold, as it attracts to magnets, but that's about all I know. My father bought it in Iran and brought it back. The rightmost ring is from the 1950s and is made of 14kt yellow gold, with either platinum or white gold detailing around the side stones. It has a 3mm yellow diamond in the center, and 1mm (maybe smaller) white diamonds on either side. Stonewise it isn't spectacular but the detailing on it is intricate and beautiful.

I have a few more but these five are the nicest.

OK, so this isn’t mine (I wish). But I LOVE the setting. Normally I don’t get excited about prongs, but look at these. Does anyone know what this prong style is called? It’s almost like a fleur-de-lis but not quite. Have you seen them on any true antique or vintage rings?

Wow, they are decorative prongs. I am sorry I don’t know the correct technical description but I agree with you that they are lovely.

This ring I got shortly after we got married, I love it! I’ve worn it everyday for almost 8 years. I will be upgrading one day to a bigger old cut, either for my 35 or my 10 year in 2 years.

I have been remiss in not posting one of my all time favorite rings.
She’s not for everyone and I totally get that.
But I gotta say she is such an entertaining companion to take with me wherever I go.
She effortlessly throws out pink, peach, yellow, brown shards of light as she wishes.
She’s exactly 2.5 carats of big fat chunky old mine cut fancy I1 Gia CB0FA944-3DA2-4463-8F45-361BC4DD3585.jpeg A150CB5F-02FD-47F6-B2BA-F8817FBAE556.jpeg certified diamond.
She’s set in a big bold 1930-1940’s Hollywood starlet setting.
She bold, brassy and unapologetic.
I wish I could be more like her.
Her name is Brownie.
Here she is just being her gorgeous cheeky self!

Those symbols are hallmarks and should tell you who made the ring, where, and when (though having the engraved date helps with that part). The black parts are probably enamel, not paint. Given the age of the ring, I might have it restored (enamel repaired, etc.) but I personally wouldn't alter it by removing the stones or anything else that would change it from it's original state. You should try looking the hallmarks up online to find out some more information about it's origin. You can also take good clear photos of them and post them on PS and some people here might be able to identify them.

IMG_1465.JPG IMG_1466.JPG IMG_1467.JPG IMG_1475.JPG Hey im very new to jewellery and i am curious about this ring. It has three stones and a thin metal. It was passed down in my family for generations and I would have no clue how old it is if not for the engraving on the inside of the ring which says: Dear Annie 16th Nov 1880
Next to the engraving there is a set of completely weird symbols that i have no idea what they are or mean. I know that this ring is valuable as it was one of the only rings my great great uncle survived through the holocaust with.
I would like to now what i should do with it whether to take it to be valued or to get it altered, as the paint on it has worn a lot. I certainly will not sell it but i may get the gems put into another ring? Any help would be appreciated.

Thought I would share an old ring of mine, believed it was from a great aunt. Dont have a clue on any details on it, but I love pulling its box out just to have a wee look at it. 20201029_195255.jpg

This is my ring from hubby for Christmas (2020)..a .30 ct M in a genuine antique, Victorian/1920's rose gold buttercup setting. The subtle warmth of the diamond blends perfectly with the rose gold, imo. Love! 20201225_163347.jpg

I can't remember if I posted this -

A cluster ring from around 1900-1910, according to the seller. The diamonds look like OMCs to me.
