Kaleigh''s right about tanzanite being better as a RHR. I have several tanzanites, but they''re all for RHR wear.Date: 11/6/2007 9:47:30 PM

If you post this in the colored stone forum you''ll get more responses. I adore tanzanite. It''s a 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness, so not one I would recommend for an ering. More suited for a RHR, IMHO.
Oooo, pretty!Date: 11/7/2007 12:03:05 AM

LOL Nebe, well...for about $1,000,000 plus that baby could be yours... Why borrow?![]()
It''s a stunner no? I have never in my life seen anything like it. Truly, I thought it was a sapphire at first, but the purple was unmistakeable. It''s something that can''t really be photographed either. In person it looks like it''s made of velvet inside. So rich, even and perfect color.
Tanzanite is such a lovely stone, I recently fell for them. Actually in the windows of NYC there are a lot more now. You could easily confuse the finer ones for sapphires, but if you look carefully you see the hue difference.![]()

Sorry I did a search and all I found was some of the saddest tanzanite 5 stone rings and other assorted stuff...
If we got a glimpse at some of the pieces privately held it would truly knock our socks off. I have to say, maybe about 5% of the world''s most stunning things are ever exhibited, and I am really not downplaying. Truly, private reserves are astounding, and sometimes these people only wear these amazing pieces for special ocassions, and let them sit in vaults and safe deposit boxes...
let that be a lesson to you all! Go get your gems and start showing them off! It''s meant as adornment!![]()
