Here is another picture of my ruby. I was captivated by the delectable candy red as the sunlight danced across my keyboard. However, in midday my phone always captures the color as pinker than what I see. :confused2:

:wavey: Thanks Polabowla!! I got the Rolex about 8 years ago as a 50th Bday present. I actually have the same watch without the diamond bezel in yellow gold too without the diamond bezel or lugs that I had gotten a few years earlier. My daughter actually wears that one now.:appl:
Rolex used to offer a lot of gemstones in their gold watches but has really gotten away from using them. It's to bad as I think the MOP faces and gems really make them equally pieces of jewelry and time pieces.:D

Thank you. The reds do make me smile. Right now, I am in the mood for a dark deep red.
I love the ring in your avatar too!

Thanks. Dark deep reds are beautiful - and classy too :)

Here's Molly. Labelled as a ruby by vendor...does that count? Some say it's more of a pink sapphire. I am still waiting for her forever home to be completed! I am also adding little jewels I wear on my ear. The flower is from my grandmother in Hong Kong... IMG_20200813_214659.jpg

Here is a pic of Molly in her original home

Adding my first rubies, a belated June birthday present that actually arrived in July, which feels appropriate!
Unheated Burmese, 3mm 4mm 3mm tiddlers which are a beautiful glowy colour.

Here's 3 of my rubies, which are all natural specimens still in their host marble.

The first one is from the Hunza Valley area in Pakistan, the other two are unknown, but possibly from Jegdalek in Afghanistan.

Thanks so much bright&shiny! :wavey:
Your screen name makes me smile.. we had the most lovely baby nurse for all 3 of our daughters years ago and when she used to give them a bath in the sink (as they were shrieking their heads off) she used to sweetly sing to them "I'm going to make you bright and shiny.. bright and shiny." =)2

I've posted both these rings separately on other threads but I wanted to add them here. My ruby butterfly ring was a gift from my parents when I was nine or ten years old, and my ruby and pearl ring was gifted to me by my father-in-law. It belonged to his mother. She was a fabulous woman who loved wearing rings on every finger. She had an extensive jewelry collection and I am happy to have a few of her pieces to call my own. Although with these pieces I don't really feel like I "own" them. More like I am their guardian until my daughter is old enough to wear them and appreciate that they belonged to her great grandmother.

@remetau I just spotted your wife’s ruby ring. Could we see more pictures of it? It’s very unique and I love it.

An open ring?

By open, if you mean open in one area, then yes.

Other than a pair of rubies from Genfix for earrings, this was my first color stone for a ring. I thought it had a bit of a window and so had the designer mount it differently. I now feel that it was a tilt window and should have stuck with the original design, because now it looks wonky to me. She loves it though and won't let me change it.

We were in Sarasota, FL at the time, and there was a local designer there named Harry Roa. This is one of his designs modified for the ruby, and I went with a bit bigger diamond. Harryroagallery.com.

This is a cool profile view! Thanks for sharing.

You are currently staying in Spain? Have you seen many emerald jewelry? I read that it’s a popular gem there, is that true?

Realised that it’s July rubies month.

Was comparing how my rubies look under different lighting (and fluorescence strength). Unheated rubies from Myanmar, Mozambique and Tanzania ranging from purplish-red to vivid-red.

Thank you!

Not really. The purplish red Burmese (middle bottom) is new so I‘m still getting to know it. I wear the 3 ct cushion (right) the most as it’s fairly low profile but when I want red I go for the smaller Tanzanian vivid red (middle top).

Which one do you like most?

I have a July boy, so several. The first one I'm torn about- it's a 1.3 unheated in platinum with high quality diamonds and GIA certificate, but I'm not really a modern jewelry person and don't wear it. The ruby is transparent. Screenshot_20230722_094118_Photos.jpg Screenshot_20230722_094049_Photos.jpg Screenshot_20230722_094113_Photos.jpg Screenshot_20230722_094107_Photos.jpg 20230722_094409.jpg 20230722_094457.jpg Screenshot_20230722_094055_Photos.jpg Screenshot_20230722_094040_Photos.jpg . Then it's my favorite- art deco unheated halo, art deco pendant, two art deco bands and a victorian band. And some unheated melee that I have no clue what to do with them.

Oh yay! So nice to see so many rubies coming out. Pls post more. It’s July after all

Here are a few more previously posted pics. Thought should show them when they look better vs pics I took to experiment with lighting conditions.
