I know that pricescope is the land of bling

and I''ve read a couple of threads where the guys have been stressing over the spending - this is the other perspective. Living in an expensive city in Oz I don''t want to spend our life savings on an e-ring and then more for the wedding ring (although I do want a flush set). I want it to be something we both love with a good quality diamond but for $3000 US or under ($4000 AUS). Anyone out there care to share.

Just so you can get a feeling for what $3000 can buy.... I have an .82 carat princess cut center stone( G, SI1 eyeclean) with 7 RB accent (.02-.05 carat) prong set in the band and next to the center stone for a total weight of 0.93 carats that totaled $3200. I don't have any pictures...unless someone here can find the one's I posted earlier.

Good luck

This is FD21Bride''s wedding Set

My ring was custom-made from Whiteflash. I have .55 center diamond, which is their A Cut Above brand and sparkles more than almost any stone I''ve seen. The setting is platinum, and the band is a simple shadow band. The set totalled right at $3000. We could have spent more, but like you I didn''t want to spend much more than that. I am really happy with my ring!

Here's a picture with the wedding band. It looks a lot less bulky in real life, I'm not sure what's up with the picture.

Here is mine. It''s just a simple .78ct E VS1 in a Tiffany style setting. I think my stone was $3150 (but I know you can get a similar stone for cheaper online), and the platinum setting was $350, so that''s about $500 more than you asked for.

login sapphire- your diamond looks huge much bigger than 3/4 ct!

I can add to this thread too -
I have a .81ct princess, with E color and SI1 clarity (it''s 100% eye clean.)
The setting is 18K white gold with another .18ct in melee, so the total carat weight of the ring is .99ct.
The ring cost $2620, US Dollars.

The matching wedding band is under $400, so the entire set is $3020.

Sometimes I think it looks big, other times, tiny! It helps that I have small hands (3.5-3.75).

Ring a Ring,

My diamond is a Whiteflash Expert Selection (just missed the ACA title) .85 carat I, SI1 in a platinum setting with .35tcw bead-set diamonds in the band (total carat weight, 1.20 carats, size 6.25). Overall, it cost around $4400, but if we'd chosen white gold and stuck to around .15-.20 carats in the band, we'd probably have been around $3000.00.

Man, these are some pretty rings & sets. I applaud the smart shopping and great senses of style!

If you're looking to spend around $3000.00, here are some options you might want to consider. When looking for settings, unless she has her heart set on platinum, go with white gold. It'll save you a ton, look beautiful and give you more for the center stone.

Most of these combinations will put you at around $3000.00, and they'll all be beautiful and full of sparkle because they're beautifully cut. Just something to think about. If you need any more help, please let us know! Good luck in your search.

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated - thought I was all alone in the hunt for the perfect ''small'' ring

A .75 carat ring on this board might seem small, but out in the real world, it''s just right. In lots of places, it''s large! Don''t let this board fool you into thinking a 2ct diamond is the norm!

Ebree is right, .75 is a very respectable size!

Thanks for find that picture Matatora....I really need to get a better camera to take a close up. That picture just doesn't do my ring the justice it deserves.

I agree with the other girls...My 0.82 isn't HUGE compared to the other girls, but in reality it's much bigger than alot of the girls around here have. Guess it depends on where you live..here in midwest Ohio my diamond is ranked in the "Darn...that's a big 'ole rock" category.

LoganSapphire,
Love your set! Is your w-band full eternity, and where did you get it?
Thanks!

Thanks! It''s only half-eternity, actually, and to be honest, it spins a lot. Although, it''s also a half size too big, so I suppose if it were sized properly, it wouldn''t spin as much. I got it locally in Fairfax, VA, at a small B&M store. I like it b/c it''s pretty thin (about 2mm).

Ring a Ring--

Have you thought about going with an antique/vintage ring? On your budget you could have lots of options.

Someone just posted this website on another thread - it goes along w/ the antique look. Some of the rings are antique, some are replicas. But check here before you buy any w/ diamonds - the older cuts can be tricky...

Forgot to mention - the rings in your price range start around page 4 of the "engagement rings" section...
