I am trying to decide if I should get brushed platinum for the future hubby's wedding band. Please share yours and how you feel about it!

I can't give any thoughts on how we feel about it after wear since we aren't married yet. But we bought a brushed platinum band by Novell. We LOVE the design and the ring will look very nice with all his watches which are brushed finish as well.

I don't have any brushed plat jewelry but I really like the look of it for men! I bet it will be a beautiful wedding band!

I think the brushed finish is beautiful. I wonder if it will be as easy to polish out scratches as the bright finish? My bright finishes just sort of patina if scratched. Also, I think you are doing the right thing by getting platinum. Years into our marriage, I developed a gold allergy and had to have everything made over. It would have been more economical to just go ahead and get the platinum in the first place.

It is not the same metal but we have brushed 10k gold my DH's ring. The brushed finish wears off very fast and when repolished, does not look the same. I would not recommend it unless the brushed finish is very different on plat than gold.

We thought about the finish being an issue with scratches but the way my platinum rings develop a patina rather then a shiny finish when scratched leads me to think it would be less likely to be an issue with platinum as opposed to gold. My uncle has a brushed finished platinum band and it still looks quite nice. We asked him to take a closer look before buying his band. I'm not sure how he maintains it, but there was no visible issues with the finish. I can let you know in a few months what we notice...not sure if that gives you enough time.

FI has a brushed palladium band.

I have noticed that scratches on his ring show up shiny whilst scratches on my (polished) band show up dull. Scratches on his ring are much more visible, because there isn't a ton of shine and reflection from all 'round to distract you I think.

Thank you every one for your feedback - it is extremly helpful.

One last question - is there a difference between brushed and satin finish? Is brush just coarser?
