So... We have the SMTB section for all things Mined Diamond and other stones, but we don't have anything collecting Man Made Diamond / Laboratory Grown Diamond items.

I think that's a shame, so I propose that we use this thread to collate pictures of Pricescope members' items, be it a half carat from Lightbox or a 3ct+ from AVInc. or LAD! :))

Sadly I can't start the thread off as I don't have anything bling myself yet :( lol, so please do post away if you have something! :)

This is my lab rose cut. She’s a 1.3 carat E VS2 (I think, can’t quite remember about the clarity and am on vacation). Setting is a Spring Gulch halo in 18k with a platinum bezel and round diamonds. It is beautifully done and so easy to wear. She’s 8mm before the halo so has a lot of presence. This was a personal piece of Caysie’s. I always wanted to try a large rosie but was hesitant to pay mined diamond pricing for a cut I wasn’t sure I would like, so I jumped when I saw this on LT. I looove it. This stone has rainbows! I am surprised at how much I wear her and at how. I’ve been wearing her as an alternate ER.

Caysie was involved in the cutting of the stone so it has a excellent cut. This to me is the big deal about lab stones—trying to ensure they are cut super well. I would love to see more AV branded cuts in lab stones.

My husband and I just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary yesterday and as a gift he wants to upgrade my 1.67 I VS2 natural diamond to a larger stone. I’m seriously considering a lab created diamond but reading that they’re not a good investment and you won’t save that much money. In my opinion it should be about what I want, right? I’m not looking at resale but what I like. Pros, cons and your opinions are appreciated.
Thanks

Not sure this is the thread for this, but regarding:
1. "they're not a good investment" - This is true. But are you getting your ring as an investment? Quick craiglist searches will show you that you will get back much less than what you paid for a diamond. They say lab grown is worth zero on the second hand market - though I would disagree, you just wont be getting a jeweler/pawn shop to buy it.
2. "won't save you much money" - I found mine to be significantly cheaper than natural. I would have probably spent double for the same specs. Just check out Brilliant Earth or James Allen for a good idea on price.

As you said, it should be about what you want. If you don't care that is MMD and you want to get a larger diamond, you can get a really nice lab one for much less. Just don't expect resale value. You could sell your 1.67 or even make it into a pendant and have a nice new accessory on your hand.

My 2 cents.

My fiancé and I purchased a lab grown radiant diamond through Jonathan at August Vintage. All I can say to anyone on the fence about buying a Lab grown diamond should just do it! We have zero regrets and it allowed us to get exactly what I wanted within our budget. I get nothing but compliments on my ring and even had my local jewelry store say how lovely of a stone it is.
I wish I had a better picture, this is in hospital lighting. It is very bright white and has great sparkle!

Top to bottom: .36ct VS2 very light blue from D.Nea, .44ct Chatham “sky blue” ER from 2007 so clarity unknown because it predates lab diamond certs, fancy vivid yellow 2.16ct vvs2 with strong yellow fluor from ecodiamond

Thank you for your input and I agree, I don’t care what others say. My jeweler will give me credit of what I paid for my stone and there are no restrictions on how much I must spend on a new stone. That’s why I was thinking to trade mine in for a larger stone and won’t have to spend much more to get what I want but then I also found out that my current ring won’t hold a larger diamond so if have to have a new setting also. The whole idea was for a larger stone so maybe I’ll trade and just buy the stone now and have something custom made. I’m really liking the lab diamonds along with the price though so I need to give it some thought.

Here’s my Lightbox 7/8 carat round white that was set into a 2 stone pendant. I put it into my E-ring. Absolutely love it. I enjoy looking at it every day. No cert, but it’s very clear, sparkly, and well cut. No regrets! I have my eye on the dark blue princess LB stone for a potential second project.

Yes! You definitely should! Jonathan was extremely easy to work with, he found us an amazing stone at a price that didn’t come close to what anywhere else was offering.

@OoohShiny As the originator of this thread can you or the mods make it a sticky so it always appears at the top of the forum? I sent a request to the mods, but nothing happened. :(

Hey kgizo!

Stickying is an Admin- and Mods-only ability! lol

I'm not sure if we can summon the Gods at @psadmin and ask nicely! :D

It may not be desired until/unless MMDs become more common on the forum - I am sure there are some interesting conversations going on behind the scenes about the future of MMDs with regards to PS :)

Lightbox 1ctw pink halo stud earrings in SS. Color is rosy pink in natural light and coppery pink in fluorescent lighting. Setting is nicely made. Got on sale as I believe the SS setting option has been discontinued and is only offered in 10K now.
