I am not sure if I am officially in the club? I have my MFA in Acting already--May 03. But I also did an MA in Theatre before that and never finished my thesis--coursework done, thesis is not. SO.....I am planning to re-enroll to write the darn thing b/c in the last 3.5 years since I was working on that degree I want to throw out my existing 1st chapter and start over completely.

So I''m technically on leave, but I''ll be back with in 1-2 semesters I think.

What a coincidence! My boyfriend is at Baylor College of Medicine too. Both of you must have started the same time because he''s now a 4th year. What''s also funny is that when he started out, he wanted to do genetics too...and some how he did a 180 and is applying for residency in Orthopedic surgery now.

I''m actually getting my Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental medicine. Both of us will be done this spring/summer...which is when I hope to get the ring.

After all, we''ve been together for 4 1/2 years now.

Gongjoo, if your husband matches, be prepared for a lot of time alone! Make sure that wherever you live, you find a challenging job and friends of your own. It's a whole different level of busy-ness from medical school (my husband is a surgery resident, that's why I know).

Thanks for the advice... we''re in the same boat!

I''m dreading the 5-6 years of residency.

But hopefully he''ll match in the NY/NJ area, which is where I''m from. I plan on moving back there after I graduate to work with my mom (who''s an acupuncturist w/clinics in nj and ny). This way, even when he''s on call all the time, I''ll have friends and family around...

I wish residency was over already! I''m sure you have a lot of ppl who think you''re lucky to have a surgeon husband, but they don''t know what we have to go thru first!

Yeah, there isn''t really anything good about residency. They hardly make any money and they''re working all of the time. I''d been thinking about a Ph.D. and decided to do it now while my husband is a resident (and before we have kids). Be prepared to take on most of the household and "life" stuff too. My husband helps now and again, but honestly, sometimes he comes home and falls asleep right away and I don''t have the heart to wake him to do the dishes or whatever, you know what I mean?

What a fun thread! I''m not in grad school yet, just an undergrad, does that count?.

I''m a youngin for this forum it seems. I am majoring in Psychology: Applied Behavioral Analysis at SUNY Binghamton. I''m hoping to graduate early and go right into grad school. Love it here, but I am quite looking forward to our thanksgiving break so I can finally go home!
