Should I worry about my exposed diamond in this trellis setting?

I feel like I should stop looking at Pricescope now that I''m finally engaged so that I won''t question my engagement ring but, I just can''t stay away from this place. I read a topic earlier about someone worrying that the girdle was exposed in the particular setting he was interested in which made me question how safe my stone was.

I''ve attached the side view of my stone. Would you guys worry about how exposed the stone was? Would it worry you enough to change the setting? I really wouldn''t want to change the setting because we finally settled on a stone/setting that my fiance and I both liked and don''t want to spend more money on another setting.

Thanks in advance.

I have a trellis and I''ve had no issues at all. I did worry about the exposed girdle, though, here''s my (very amateur) test:

Put the ring sideways on a flat surface. If the girdle never touches that surface (the prongs take the contact) I don''t worry anymore. If the girdle takes the contact from a variety of angles, then I''d probably change my setting to something a little more protected.

I had a 1ct (6.5mm) stone in an open 4-prong trellis like yours and there was never an issue. When I changed to an 8mm stone, I made sure that my setting had six protective prongs.

That said, there are several PS members with ROCKS who prefer the open views of the 4-prong, and have also never had issues with it. It''s a lot more how you treat your diamond and just a little how it''s set, I think

My engagement ring is a three stone trellis setting, and I''ve never had any issues with it. I love your ring -- it''s beautiful!

Lovely ring and congrats on your engagement! Ditto the ladies, wear with care, enjoy and make sure you have insurance as you would do anyway!

My diamond sit fairly high up and I don''t worry about it at all. I take my ering to my jeweller every 6 months to get the prongs checked and (as other PSers have said) I have insurance.

I have my ring insured through USAA whom I also have home insurance through. The representative told me they only cover theft and loss but not damage. If you don''t mind sharing, who are you all insured with that covers damage also? Thanks!
