Hello

Just wanted everyone's opinion of whether or not I should trade in my G-I, SI1 1.25tcw diamond studs for a D-E VS1-2, 1.5tcw studs for an additional $5000. Or a I SI2, 2tcw studs for $8750? I am really confused at this point because I am not sure what I should do. I don't know if I really want to spend at extra $8000 for I S12 stones. I think I would be happier with the 1.5 because of the quality of the stones, but do you think I would think it doesn't provide as much ear coverage as a 2tcw?

Please advise. I would really really people's opinion because I need to know by this Wednesday.

I'm not sure if you (or anyone else) would notice the difference between 1.25ctw and 1.5ctw studs, it would be around 0.3mm per stone. To me 0.3mm isn't worth 5k.

It also sounds like what you really want is 2ctw D-E VS studs. Personally, as it sounds like you would not be happy trading down in quality to go up in size, I would wait until I could afford the earrings I really wanted.

I don't think you'd notice the size very much from 1.25 to 1.50. I do think you'd notice the size going up to 2.00. I think the color and clarity you have now is more than adequate for earrings - D color would be lovely but not necessary and I certainly wouldn't want to pay the price for the higher color. How about going to 1.75 in the color you have now? What would that price tag look like?

Spending $5000 to go from 1.25 to 1.5 would seem kind of crazy to me because there is little visual difference. Why do you have a G and I in your current pair? I'd probably want to upgrade the I color one to G so the colors would match. I think a goal of 1.6-1.8 ctw is reasonable, but I'd never go above G in color for studs especially with ideal cut stones. I'd be looking for H-I color and VS2-SI1 for the larger pair, personally.

Thank you! I think I should consider getting the 2ct I SI2 round studs. Do you think paying $8,750 extra would be too much for the quality of stones I am getting. They are Kwiats. I am not sure if that brand makes any differences.

I personally would not pay that much for 3/4 more but that is just me. Have you ever thought of getting jackets?

I wouldn't do that. Just keep them Until you can afford 2ctw with higher clarity & color etc..
