My diamond is a 0.76 G SI1. I got it from blue nile and I still have 6 days in the return period.

I looked online for the "perfect proportions". The diamond is eye clean. I was actually shocked at how clear it was in person.
I can see the twinning wisps near the bottom when I look in from the side.
I am concerned its not as brilliant, and sparkly as it should be, especially in the sun. When I take a picture with flash I see ALOT of training in it.20180209_080537.jpg

I am thinking maybe I should exchange it for a G VS1. It will be $800 more then the diamond I purchased.

My diamond is fairly clean, so exchanging for VS1, is just because....

i think your stone is STUNNING. However you wouldn't be the first to want to increase clarity just to have a "mind clean" stone. If you're unhappy with it, nothing wrong with swapping it. What stone are you looking at?

By the specs ,it looks like ideal cut stone ! Did you put the numbers in HCA? Diamonds don’t sparkle in the sun that much ,the best way to see the performance is to be under the tree in a sunny day !thsts when you see all the colors and brilliance

Your eye is the final arbiter on any diamond purchase and you should trust your instincts. If you sense a deficit now you always will. Si is a broad clarity category. Twinning wisps are favored by many because they are hard to see with the naked eye. But they can also scatter light a bit, depending on their number, density and location.

The best way to verify if there is a transparency deficit is to compare it to a stone of similar size, cut, and color but in a VS1 or better clarity. If you can't see a difference, you will feel better. If you can, then you will know what you need to do.

I am looking at this diamond now.

The HCA score of my diamond is 1.4, and the diamond I am thinking about getting is 1.9

Originally I wanted no less than VS1, and I was going to go with a J diamond. Later I decided I wanted G so I searched for the eye clean SI1. I'm mostly happy with the clarity. Which, is why if I exchange the stone, I will go for VS1 to put my mind at ease.

Do you think the SI1 twinning wisps are why I dont think it's sparkkes as much as it should? Would the VS1 sparkle any more?

You certainly won't have any light performance deficits due to clarity if you go with a VS1.

I prefer the cut on your existing stone and it looks to be a very eye-clean stone.

Clarity refers to how clear (or not) a stone is. Sparkle is due to the angles allowing light to return to your eye. Certainly clarity issues can impede the light return in a well cut diamond. But maybe not more than unfavorable angles.

Thanks for the replies!!! I have decided not to exchange my diamond! The clarity isnt a concern (because it is eye clean) AS LONG AS it wasnt causing any light return issues.... I am thinking the lighting in my home and office is just poor.... I forgot to take my ring off before going into the gym last night....... it looked like I had a strobe light on my finger!!! Thanks again!

Very strange! I actually didnt know about this! I saw the pictures someone attached, and that is EXACTLY what I am seeing..... so maybe I can not see the twinning wisps at all, and this would explain how the diamond got the clarity of SI1 (meaning, what looks like graining that I see in the diamond when I take a picture with flash).....

Thanks so much!!

I would a) make sure your stone is clean, and b) look at it in a variety of lighting conditions. Some conditions make a diamond really perform (the lights in a elevator/pinpoint type lighting, outside where light is coming through trees. While it may not sparkle as much indoors or on cloudy days. If your diamond doesn't perform well in all situations, then I would look into a return. Ultimately you have to be happy with your ring. If you are not you should return.

+1 re making sure the stone is clean. Diamonds get dirty really fast. :wavey:
