If your Leon Mege solitaire ering with 3/4 pave melee on a dainty 2 mm width band was 1/4 size too big, would you get some sort of sizing beads or sizing bar installed, and if so, do most jewelers do this service? If you do go forward with it, would you go to Leon or just go local?

If you don''t go that route, would you just have the jeweler resize the band by 1/4 size? My issue is, I worry about the resizing will affect the pave workmanship. Is that a myth? If I resize, the actual band, should I go to Leon or is it fine to go local?

Insurance wise does this affect anything?

I swung by a jewelry store (local b&m) in my college town, and they said they could resize it for me. She was real eager to take it from me, and I told her I''d have to think about it. I asked her if it would affect the pave on the band, and she didn''t even blink and said it wouldn''t. I think she looked at me like I was a paranoid girl.

Anyway, I guess when you vote, please tell me why you''d go with that route and who you''d go to to do it.

Sick of my spinning ring on my cold hands, and having it feel like it''s gonna slip right off. Hot days it is a perfect fit with just a little tug at the knuckle.

I would honestly send it back to LM to get re-sized (wouldn''t want a poor bead job to ruin the hallmark stamps or a bad bead job).

When I had my princess set the first time, a baguette got loose (dropped my ring!) and I had a local person fix it. While they did so, the polish and claw wasn''t as pristine, so in the end, I had him remake my ring (a bit hasty yes, but it was the only way to fix it w/o bugging me).

So I''d hate to have someone size your ring and mess the pave up... I''d get it sized properly by LM and only him..

I would add the sizing beads unless you happen to live in a climate where the temperature is constant throughout the year. All of my rings have sizing beads and it''s necessary because they really slide around in the winter but my fingers definitely swell up in the heat and humidity.

I would send the ring back to Leon and either have him size it if you feel your finger won't get larger anytime soon, or if you do worry about your size becoming larger, have him put the horseshoe sizer in becase it is effective and can still be removed in the future if you need the extra space and it won't damage your ring or the pave at all. If you really don't want to send your ring back to Leon and still worry about size, then have the beads put in because that should not do anything to damage the ring/pave. Personally to a larger degree I like to have a little space because of weight and weather fluctuations because most can't afford to have a Leon remade a few times over because of size.

I wouldn''t let anyone but leon resize it but I voted for the beads - you never know what the future has in store. No idea if you are planning on having kids but that''s one example.

pannini, I''ve been in the same boat as you for the past year with my custom five stone. In the winter time, I can slide it off with my thumb and a gentle push, but in July and August, it fits right. It also constantly rotates and slips towards my pinky. I haven''t had it sized because I don''t want anyone cutting the shank. What I''ll do eventually if my hands don''t change is have two sizing beads put inside. A nice woman at GOG showed me her ring and let me try it on. She has two sizing beads spaced far apart in hers and had them squished a little so they don''t poke her finger. It was pretty comfortable and she said the beads are only tacked in with a little solder. They can be easily removed.

I know how you feel. You''re not being paranoid. No, it won''t affect your insurance.

Ditto!

I would do sizing beads or send it to Leon. Just imagine how sad you would be if your ring was returned to you damaged and mangled by poor workmanship. Many jewelers aren''t used to working with very fine micropave. And then you''d end up sending it to Leon in the end to repair the damage. That''s what I would do to avoid any future regrets! Your ring sounds amazing!!!

I voted to get it resized but with Leon ONLY! He will know what he''s doing and will make sure the pave won''t be at risk.

Do you have a wedding band yet? That will make the difference in fit since the ring will fit tighter when you add another band. I wouldn''t do anything until then, maybe wear a super thin extra band for now?

Thritto.

You certainly can''t size it down if it fits right in hot weather! So sizing beads are your only choice out of the options you mentioned. Are you planning on wearing a wedding band with it? If so, then it''ll fit better with another ring beside it.

Thanks everyone so far! I tried on with some sample bands and it doesn''t make the ering fit any better. Same exact fit. My fingers are pretty stick straight, so the knuckles are even with the rest of my finger. I have longish, slim fingers.

I think I will ask to see if anyone can do the beads locally, and within the same day. I feel weird leaving it overnight somewhere if I think they''d do something to the ring by accident. Yes I am overly cautious!

As for Leon, I''d love to send it back to him, but I''m wondering how long the wait period will be to get it done if I did.

=(

I think everyone told you the same thing in your other thread .. send it back to Leon. Best is to ask him what the turnaround time is. You spent a lot of money on the setting .. why risk messing it up just because you have to wait a little longer.

Definatley send it back to Leon... he is quick with re-sizes!!!!

I have the same problem living in NH - hot days its tight and cold days, its spinning aroundthe world we go!
I dont have a leon, but if I were you, I'd send it back to him to add a bridge, not beads, it looks nicer and is more comfortable than beads in my opinion. I had both on my rings, so that is my preference. you dont need much, juuuuuuuuuust a little so it "grabs" your skin and prevent the spinning :)

Besides, Its better if Leon does it, cause if you happen to have a couple of stones fall out ( God forbid! ) and you return the ring to him to rework on it and he happens to see you got it sized elsewhere, I think he'd have a fit!!!!

panini, I''m having the same problem with my LM ring. I got my finger measured in the summer but it must have shrank now that it''s getting colder in NY and now the ring is too big and spins around

Did you decide what to do with your ring? Are you getting it resized or putting the beads? I''m so torn about what to do!!

I would send it to Leon. I had some work done at a very high end jewelers in my area and not only did they not size the ring right but the owner told me they could take by bezel set center stone out with now damage to the setting (to weigh it for appraisal) and they completely ruined it. It was a martin flyer that I sent
back to the manufacturer and they completely remade the ring at the jewelers cost. Thus I am skeptical about believing what any jeweler would tell you.
Leon is completely confident in the quality of his work and when your ring came back you could feel good about it. Just my .02.
