Should I hold my breath? H&A with good HCA score.

Here I am again everyone. Thanks again for all the help!!!

I was considering a 1.07 G VS2 Canadian H&A diamond $7255 CDN before... with a HCA of 2.8. The post is here. I was disappointed. I'm still waiting for the diamond to arrive. However, I talked to the guy and he has another option for me:

1.007 ct AGS 000 H&A G VS2 diamond $7342 CDN

The cert is here... It shows a AGSL computer generated light performance map. What do you think of that graph? I don't see light leakage. I know I'll still have to look at the IS. I just want to know what you guys think. If this looks good, I'll just look at this first instead of the 1.07 one. The guy said.. AGS has a stricter grading. True?

HCA result:

Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 1.4 - Excellent within TIC range

I don't know if I want to look at the first diamond with a high HCA score. I know HCA is just a rejection tool, but I would like to have a diamond that performs well on the HCA and on the AGS cert... so that I might feel good mentally. lol

Looking at which one will depend on what is your preference and mind clean purposes.

AGS is stricter in the cut grading, color and clarity is on par with GIA.

I''d go for a comparison between the 59/60 and the AGS0 side by side. See which one you like and then let us know.

The thing is... I wouldn''t be able to compare them side by side. I can only look at one at a time. The place is actually an online diamond wholesale place. They happen to have a place in Vancouver where we can go in and see the diamond in person. Maybe insurance problem or watever. The guy said he can order one at a time. He''s gonna check with the cutter tomorrow. If it''s available we can probably see it this weekend. I was thinking to go with a diamond with better HCA score. If this 1ct is not available, we''ll probably get the 1.07 ct. That 1.07 (HCA = 2. won''t be in ''til late next week.

One question: just because a diamond is close to 60/60, doesn''t mean this will sparkle a lot, right? We still have to look at the angles?

Sounds like a line to me -- "We will only show you one at a time"

. That is not good business practice. Does this company have a return policy? And inspection period? I am not liking the sounds of it... If they will not let you compare in their store, then withn the return period take the diamond somewhere like Spence diamonds and compare to GIA Ex and AGS ideal stones there so you can see if you like it in comparison to others. OR before you go see this diaond, go out and view as many diamonds as you can, even try going to Tiffany, so that you have an idea of what well cut dimaonds should look like.

30 days return policy. He said if it is available, he can get it by Thursday or Friday. He said we can look at it over the weekend and think about it for a few days. If we don''t like it, he''ll have to send it back to the cutter by Tuesday. We''ve been looking at diamonds continuously for the last 2 months, at Spence, and other stores. We kind of know what''s well cut diamonds should look like. I''ve been well educated by you guys. Thank you!!!

So far, only the true H&A diamonds can WOW us. For sure, we''ll look at it under different lightning. Since it has a HCA of 1.3 and a good ASET from the cert, hope it will wow us in person!!!

I''m going to look at the diamond in person tomorrow. I''m excited and a bit nervous. I''m scared that I would be disappointed again. However, the HCA score and the cert seem to be pretty good. Can someone look at the light performance map on the cert and tell me what you think? Does it look like it can sparkle a lot based on the graph? Thank you very much!!!
