Purchased the following stone:

Here is a link to the AGS Report:

Here is the idealscope:

HCA rating is 1, with excellent light return, fire, and scintillation. Very good polish and spread.

Here is the HCA Graph:

As you can see the graph denotes that the stone is a GIA excellent (barely) and also puts the stone just outside of the PGS range of 0.

Should I be worrried that the stone is just barely in GIA excellent range and does not have a PGS grade of 0?

Thank you!

No, you shouldn't have any reservations. Looks great.

As a member of the trade, I may not comment on specific diamonds. I can say that I believe you may be incorrecty trying to use the HCA software. T HCA is a "Go, No Go" tool, intended to show you which diamonds are worthy of further inspection.

A diamond with an HCA of 1 is definitely worth inspecting further to see if it meets your needs. That is ALL that the HCA can tell you, it is NOT a selection tool.

Thank you, Wink!

The only thing that I would consider carefully is if the inclusions in the table will be acceptable for you and your intended. Its a good sized stone and that makes seeing table inclusions easier. I think that is really something to evaluate with the stone in your hands. If you don't have good close vision, but your gal does, you might want to get other opinions.

Rocky,

I used to be in this camp myself, but I have found over the years that with well cut diamonds, it is often easier to see inclusions near the sides than in the table, which is incredibly busy with SPARKLE. Also, some reports make a VS2 look like an SI3. I wish some of the heavy handed artists would draw the red circles indicating a crystal with a faint red line for the clear, colorless and impossible to see without a loupe crystals that look in the diagram as if they should be visible across the street.

Thanks, Rocky. I’ve been assured it’s eye clean, but will definitely inspect it when I get a hold of it to make sure it is acceptable.

Thanks for your insight, Wink. Your analysis regarding the drawings is consistent with what I have been seeing while shopping for diamonds, and with this particular diamond as well. Glad to know that someone in the trade has noticed it.

We have noticed it and complained about it and have gotten exactly nowhere with getting it "Fixed." I suspect it will be a problem for those of us who sell on the Internet, relying on those reports for credibility for the rest of my career. Those who are selling actual inventory within Bricks and Mortar stores don't worry about it, as most of their clients don't care about the reports as they are looking at the actual diamonds. (I am speaking about trusted independent jewelers, not the usual suspects in the Mall stores.)

You can see the effect of the table crystal on the IS.

The IS looks great... and the AGS score of 0 along with the IS confirms this will likely be a lovely diamond. I wouldn't worry about it either.

As for the table inclusion. You can see how the crystal is visible centre, at 6'oclock on the IS. On the video from the JA site, its' also very readily visible. But shrink the stone down to real life size and it should be eye clean at the usual 10-12 inches. Whether you can see it closer up, you'll need to ask your vendor for "mind clean" purposes. As a VS2, it should be readily visible with a 10x anyhow. The JA True-Heart stones tend to be keepers. :appl:

looks like a good one! Just ask some eagle-eyed friends to take a look when you receive it ;)

That’s fantastic! The stone is gorgeous and that setting is perfect. Is that a JA setting? It’s really beautiful.
