Hey everyone,

Looking to propose sometime this year and have been reading up on diamonds/settings to ensure I get something she wants. JannPaul really appeals to me as I want to get her something special that she'll always appreciate, and their quality standards plus their unique White Series checks the boxes for me. Currently I'm thinking of going with the 111 faceted 10 H&A round diamond, unique and high performing while retaining the round shape she wants. Important context is that I live in the US, and can't just visit their store in Singapore to inform my purchase decision.

Given this, I'd love some perspectives on the quality of the end product (diamond and setting) and overall experience of buying from JP. If people who have interacted with them/have opinions on their diamonds could share their thoughts/experiences, that would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

P.S. I have been in contact with a sales associate (Chloe) and am aware of their lead times and pricing.

Do a search on the forum, and you'll see that many people have had great experiences with JannPaul. IMO they have among the best cut diamonds in the business.

This x1000 - no matter if you're going for EGD or LGD, JP diamonds will remove your shoes and knock your socks off.

Congratulations!

No experience with JP but I can give you a suggestion to somehow find out how she feels about their 111 facet round 10 vs their 57 facet round 8.

Maybe she wouldn’t mind. Maybe she might. I would.

I love my JP ring (albeit teeny stones), and I loved working with Chloe!

Hi, competitive -cars!
I was lucky enough to get a decagon ring from jaan Paul last year . I love it so so very much and I think it’s stunning ! I wouldn’t trade it for anything. We worked with Eugene and he is fantastic! Great customer service and I couldn’t be happier with mine. Feel free to ask me any questions. IMG_3115.jpeg

I worked with Avery to get mine and absolutely love it! I dint think you can go wrong choosing one of their diamonds, natural or lab grown. Just FYI, Avery told me they're going to all HPHT for LG.

Just saw their pear 2.0 on Instagram and I might be in trouble

I'm pretty far down the road with JP. Getting a Round10, 4.25ct, G/IF stone and custom engagement ring setting. I will be in Singapore on a business trip and will pick up in person next month. I started the process in early November, so it will be ~4 months when all is said and done. A lot of the time was spent finding a rough stone with the appropriate quality and size. Then the cutting, then sending to GCAL for grading. In parallel we designed the engagement ring and reviewed multiple versions before we settled on a design.

At this point, the stone is en route to JP from the CGAL lab. And the ring is almost done. I expect to see photos of the ring in another 2-3W. I'm pretty excited! See CAD design of the ring below.

The process so far has been super smooth. Chloe has been very patient with me, kept me up to date on all the steps, and provided a lot of information via Whatsapp.

Can't say I'm a customer yet, but the buying experience so far has been really good. Communication has been unfailingly prompt, polite and professional.

A quick question for those here who have imported a JP ring to the U.S. My ring is ready and about to be shipped, want to ensure the customs delays are as short as possible. I need to request a customs form 5106 from JP correct? Anything else required in order to import the ring?

They gave me all the info needed for quick import - weight of gold, etc. other than 5106, I can’t recall anything else. I remember there being a weird question on the 5106 which seemed necessary but when was told could be left blank … gosh, none of this info is very helpful to you! I’m just typing bc I’m so excited for you lol!

Thanks for the reply! I’ll touch base with my SA about this, very excited to receive the ring and propose!

Hi @jewels4life , I was reading through the threads and found that you have experience with both the JP decagon and the BrianGavin signature HA.

Could I have your opinion on these 2 and how do they compare?

Hi northbound336, is there certain things you’re curious about or just wanting to know what I think about owning both?

Hi @jewels4life,

1) in terms of brilliance and sparkle does the JP actually outperform? By a lot or a little?

2) also curious if a specialty cut holds its value as well as the traditional round brilliant?

But yes generally, just wanted to know some insights or what you think about either since you’ve owned both.

Thanks in advance!

Hi northbound336,

1) in my opinion my jp does outperform my bg . Not everyone will agree with me, but this is my honest opinion. I wear them both everyday and the beautiful rainbow flashes and sparkle that come from my jp just blow me away . I have gotten a multitude of compliments from strangers, sales people etc. when out on my jp ring. It’s something along the lines of “ wow ! Your ring is so sparkly !

Now, I’m not dissing my bg ring at all , it’s gorgeous too . I love it as well, which is why I still have it . Part of the draw for me was wanting something like a round brilliant , but just slightly different. Having something that not a ton of others have was appealing to me and I love having something different.

2) in terms of holding value, I honestly can’t say. I was willing to pay the premium to get it, but I can’t say if I’d recoup any of it if I had to sell it . Jp only sells stones with amazing specs , so that’s a plus in my book . I stalked their instragram for a while and was always drooling over the decagon since I first saw it. Since I had to do it online, I was slightly nervous that it wouldn’t live up to the hype of what I was seeing, but I was not disappointed in the slightest when it arrived. The second I took it outside, I was speechless . I hope this helps :) anything additional you’d like to know, feel free to ask .

When it comes to holding value, it depends on what you mean.

When you buy retail, you will always lose money if you try to resell.

The JP decagon is a specialty stone, however. Most people probably wouldn’t know what it is.

For those who do, however, I’m sure they would be willing to pay a premium.

I can only imagine that if a J.P. decagon showed up on the preloved forum, somebody would want to jump on it.

I certainly would!

… like if somebody posted in Octavia in “Preloved,” I don’t think it would last very long.

Frankly, it’s hard to imagine anybody actually wanting to get rid of such a stone!

Just want to post some review videos I have of my decagon ring.

Bunch of different lighting conditions

I posted more on Youtube, including videos under low/white light

Are the two stones the same size and in similar settings?
