Should I go for the cushion?

After talking to JA and my boyfriend, I've decided to go with the G VS1 cushion. It has everything we've been looking for and it's affordable, and if it doesn't live up to our expectations in person, we'll return it. Put in the order today and will be going to the bank tomorrow to wire the payment. Thanks for everyone's help and I will post the diamond when I get it.

We decided after a LONG talk that we're going to splurge and get the Tacori I've been lusting after. It's close to $1000 over our original budget, but my bf isn't a fan of upgrades and we want something I'm going to love looking at on my hand forever! It was his idea, so if he's comfortable with it then I am! We won't be getting platinum though, which I originally was hoping for, but I think my dream setting is worth it.
 
Well don't fret gold is really lovely too. If its pave down the side I'd go 14k if you could. Save money, more durable, and whiter.

What setting??? I can't wait to see this when its all done
 
I think I can only choose 18k. It's the 2620 with pave down the shank. I can't wait for it to be done too :) I'm on my phone or I'd post a pic of the setting but here's the link http://www.tacori.com/2620rdlgp.html
 
Oh well that'll be just stunning. And sit nice and high it'll keep that cushion looking huge!
 
Thats a really beautiful setting that will look fab with your new cushion. It looks like you are getting everything that you hoped for which is really exciting. I can't wait to see the finished pictures when its all done.
 
Thanks! I am getting everything I want and I feel so lucky and blessed to have a man who is so supportive. The diamond will be here tomorrow (YAY) and I will post pics.
 
Well I got the diamond today. It's absolutely beautiful, but it looks so much smaller than the one I already have. It definitely performs better and has more fire, but I'm disappointed in how it compares size wise and I'm not sure what to do now...
 
is it already set? Oops, forgot you are getting the Tacori.

It's hard to compare size of set vs unset stones.
 
No it's not set. That's good to know. I knew it wasn't really going to look bigger since you lose some of the spread with the rounded corners vs. the square corners of the princess, I just really didn't think it would look this much smaller to my eye. I can post a picture but I don't know how helpful it would be since one is set and one is unset.

You are comparing apples and oranges. A stone that's set and in a halo is going to look a lot larger verses one in a box. Take it to a jeweler and pit a setting on your ginger and plop the stone on top, see how you feel
 
Ok. It is in a temporary spring setting from JA that I can put on my finger, so it's not just sitting in a box. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Please excuse my horrible cuticles and nails. When I put them both on it didn't do a good job of illustrating it because the spring setting is really really high and makes it look a little bigger than it actually is. I will say, I think the size difference looks less noticeable in pictures than in real life to me. When I look at in person I don't see any difference in lenght which confuses me since one is 5.78 and the other 6.44 - seems like it should be a noticable difference. Sorry for the bad quality pictures. All I have is my phone.

OK. I think that's the halo that's doing it. But I'll be honest. If you get a super tiny little under halo like that ticori, it might leave you wanting. But in a halo similar size to your current one I think it'll be comparable once set

Don't get discouraged the hunt is half the fun! Plus after this when is the next time you'll get to buy jewelry like this ;)
 
Yeah, the 2620 is beautiful, but the halo might not pack enough punch for you, since it's teeny tiny.
 
Is it worth looking into the .95 G that Julie posted earlier? Will I even be able to see the appx .2 mm size increase in each direction?
 
Based on your pics that G vs1 looks very nice. the Tacori 2620 is one of my favorite settings. I think you will love your ring. Yes, the .2mm on both sides will make it face up a little larger and will be slightly noticeable, but based on the fact you wanted the 1c don't know if it would be worth the trouble.

I think they would show you the ASET on the .95 since it would be an exchange if you decided to go with that one. Doesn't hurt to ask. A 61% depth is not too too shallow and could be a really nice stone....I'm seeing a little "mush" around certain edges of the table but not bad at all.

You are going to have this stone for a life time...so if you want the larger stone then ask for the ASET....they already have your money.
 
Thanks Ariel! I asked ja to investigate the .95. So we'll see what they say. My bf loves this new stone so maybe I'll stick with it. I'm going to definitely at least sleep on it. The first thing he said was wow that it so much sparklier than the other.

aw he loves it? Honestly i think you get a halo on that with a little more substance and it wont look much smaller
