Should I add this to my Art Deco collection?

Based on a) original or reproduction? And B) price

18k g 34007EA2-2CC0-478E-84F9-B64DB9CA7272.jpeg old. Omc diamonds. Probably .40 tcw. Am assuming sapphires are synthetic. Price is 1000 dollars

Art Deco platinum isn't my forte so I've really no idea if it's original or repro! :( What does the seller say? Any maker's marks? I think it's lovely and being worn on a pinky is probably not doing it justice in the photos - somehow I feel the diamond/kite shape would be much nicer on the ring or third finger? Is there a return policy?

No idea of it’s origin but I think it is a lovely ring that would look fab on a ring or middle finger. That said, I think it would be a nice addition to your collection and can picture it looking smashing with jeans and a white T-shirt or dressed up. I work with a lady who has a similar one and I admire it (feel a little jelly tbh) each time she wears it. It was her grandmas. I say get it! :)

It's beautiful Nala. IMHO a timeless look. If the ring is platinum/irridium or 18k I would think the ring is authentic art deco. The price is not bad if the ring is authentic, but not terrible if it is not. Does it speak to you? If so, I say pull the trigger.

I love it too!
It’s great as a pinky.
It would be great on any finger.
Just depends what else your wearing with it.

Thanks all!! It wouldn’t be a pinky ring just a bit snug right now. I’m on the fence still but I appreciate the enabling

@ForteKitty you’ve mentioned before that you see a lot of reproductions—can you please share your opinion on this one?

The top part looks like a commonly reproduced design (the sapphire halo with the squiggly lines around it) and I've see a few variations of the squiggly "halo", but the shank and gallery look old to me and it doesn't look like someone put it together afterwards. But the sapphires, milgrain, and engraving looks pristine, so either it was never worn, or it was very nicely reproduced. At $1k, the price is good. Although I'd probably pass unless I love it because those ends would poke my eyes out.

Hmmm...

It’s a lovely design. But for me, I wouldn’t be interested in wearing it as a pinky ring, because I never bother with pinky rings and because of the pokey thing. So the question would become how might it look elsewhere, and how much would it cost to have it sized? It might be well-proportioned for a ring finger, but I’m thinking the design might be a little small for what I’d want for a middle finger ring. I’m also wondering whether the contouring on the shoulders would limit your sizing options.

If you’re planning to wear it as a pinky ring, of course, never mind!

I think it’s pretty, but unless I felt pretty confident it is actually original Art Deco I would pass. Think it would be overpriced if not...
