[ETA: Yummy pics from my visit to WF below!]
Yay! I get to shop for another e-ring!

It's for my sis, whose soon-to-be FI called me today to let me know he was ready to get down to biz. We talked diamonds for awhile and it was clear he was getting flustered… he was like, "can I just transfer $ into your bank account and you can buy it?" And he was serious! I told him I'd rather just narrow it down (to like 2) for him.

I asked my sis what she was looking for in a diamond, and she said "Big and round"… (a PSer in the making!). She's not talking PS big though... good news for her BF. She's thinking in and around 1 carat, which is fortunately what her BF is thinking too.

Sis's BF would like me to see the diamond IRL before he buys, which means it'll have to be a WF stone! He's looking to buy pretty soon... I've narrowed it down to these 4 ACAs and 1 ES. I don't know everything there is to know about RBs, though I'm trying to learn as much as I can, so bear with me! Experts... please let me know what you think!

Fun Project Lizzie!

I've owned one ACA (then later upgraded) and two ES stones. Although I loved my ACA stone, the ES stones are so gorgeous and very close, almost indistinguishable from the ACA. One is a K, and the other an F.

My pick would be going for the biggest stone you can get for the buck. The ES choice is not settling for any lesser quality. My pick is #5! She'll love the big size of that one!

Unless she is extremely color sensitive, I'm sure the J would be just fine. I love my K ES stone!

Thanks Jelly! #5 is actually my fave too... I''m liking the idea of that faint fluor w/ the J color!

She and her BF are both thinking classic tiffany style solitaire for the setting. She wants a plain e-ring band and a diamond wedding band. The set is going to be very classic and lovely!

How beautiful and classic! I love the look of a solitaire with a diamond w-band!

Don''t forget to fill out the "referral gift" for referring your sister to WF after she makes her purchase. That''s another $100 towards more jewelry!

I know! I''m worried about that too. Gonna tell sis''s BF to act fast! My sister''s hand is about a size 5.5, so I think 1.22 will look great!

Yay! I''m going to WF today to check out the stones! In particular I''ll be looking at #3 and my fave #5. Also a newbie #6 that was suggested to sister''s BF by WF. I''m going to have to see it w/ my own eyes to see if it''s really worth the extra $$$ to get an ACA that''s smaller than the ES #5.

I''m super excited! Let me know you''re thoughts!

Hi Lizzie!!!

What a fun and exciting project!!! I hope my sister''s fi comes to me to help him pick a ring (although she doens''t have a fi yet..lol). I LOVE #5, and #6 looks promising too. What a lucky girl you are to be able to just "go" to Whiteflash to see the stones in person!!!!!

Best of luck in picking a great one, can''t wait to hear all about it!!!!!

What''s funny is that he''s soooo grateful for the help, and I''m just happy that I get to diamond shop! I was trying to explain to him that I look at all this stuff just for fun, so I''m very happy to actually be helping someone buy one!

It's fun.
I like #5 and #6.
I prefer #6. It is an ACA ( If you buy it this month, remember Nov promotion). #5 maybe is not eyeclean.

#5 is eyeclean from 3-4 inches according to WF. But if less than 1/2 an hr I''ll go see for myself! My sister isn''t a PSer so she''s not going to be louping it on a daily basis! I think it''s mostly going to come down to size appearance. If the #6 ACA "looks" bigger, then I might go for it, but if not, then I then I''d rather her BF put more $ toward a setting. She likes the X-prong a lot more than the 4 and 6 prong Tiffany style.... just gotta convice her BF that it''s worth the extra $$$ for a "little bit of metal"!

Yipee! I have pics to post! I had a wonderful time at WF... I was just ridiculously giddy to be looking at such beautiful diamonds. Brian (the cutter) was just wonderful and spent a lot of time educating us (me and my friend) and telling us his diamond philosophy.

And I made my pick! #5 it is! And my sister''s BF agrees! Yay!
36.gif

Here are some pics! First up. the final 3 all on my finger at the same time! Yummmy! The difference between the 3 was barely discernible.. but I could tell which was which b/c the ACAs looked more like each other and the ES #5 was bigger!

Hand shot... not my hand unfortunately.... that dainty paw belongs to my friend... We put the rock in an X-prong setting... size 4 fit her pinky loosely.
