Shipping and Insurance help.

Need some help with the details below. I have searched the forum and found some helpful stuff but need some clarity.

Now that i sorted the stone and finally decided the setting and going to go with VC I have the following questions.

1. My stone is sitting with WF and I can have them ship it directly to VC which should not be a problem and the insurance will be covered. Please correct me if i wrong.

2. Obviously assuming the stone sitting with VC is not a problem. The question is while he is doing the setting do I need to get insurance, if yes then what is the best way to get insurance and what would is the cost of insurance if the stone is worth $15k .

3. Assume when the ring is ready VC would ship it internationally with insurance and I would just cover cost, in case VC does not (be surprised if this is the case) have access to shipping with insurance what is the best way to get round it.

1. Did WF tell you they would send the stone directly to the ring maker and not to you? I wouldn't assume that unless they have said so. I hope they will, though.

2. Some people do and some don't. I have had diamonds set without insurance. I don't think I'd worry about Victor damaging a stone.

3. You'd have to ask Victor if he can ship internationally and whether it would be insured or not. But I would get insurance on the completed ring before he shipped it regardless. He can probably write you something adequate for insurance and you can copy the diamond lab report to include with it.

3. I need insurance only during the shipment and not after, like arkieb1 stated it should not be a problem.

To update WF will ship to VC.
VC does not cover insurance during setting and if need be I should get it myself. I will not worry about it.
VC will ship internationally via fedex with full insurance.

Haha! I was confused because you said you didn't need insurance once it arrived..but you DO need it...you just already know how you are going to insure it at that point!

I live in Europe and my setting was shipped by Vicor fully insured via Malca Amit. As a customer you will pay for shipping and insurance. In my case the costs were relatively low though!

What setting will Victor create for you?

Yes hopefully all set now just need everything to flow smoothly. VC is going to the do the Donna Split Shank Halo for me but with a round halo. Any suggestions that i should modify/tweak or experiences you know please feel free to share so that I can have VC make some modifications. Thanks.

Thanks. VC mentioned Fedex and honestly whatever he uses should be fine as long as it comes insured. I know i will pay for shipping and insurance. Not sure what it will cost to Hong Kong.
