*Sheldon Speyer Mini Mania /So This Isn''t A Total Waste*

This thread is going to be a total waste if I (and you) let it become one, because I am frustrated and feeling too old and useless to be on a computer, to be around digital cameras. That is not really fair, because I was able to get onto a computer when my daughter was three (13 years ago) and navigate USENET. I was able to use digital videocameras for years. I think my problems are really just because I am so depressed right now. But I keep taking pictures of jewelry and trying to upload it (download it?) onto my computer only to find it isn't there.

I had a hard drive crash and now I cannot find one of the two CDs I once had. One allowed me to download (or upload) photos from my video/digital camera onto my computer and another allowed me to edit them there.

Now I find I try to save them and then I cannot find them on the computer and I am going crazy. I have tried to photograph jewelry (today it was some Sheldon Speyer mini mania rings) on a few different days and to get them onto the computer and onto Pricescope to no avail. I know I can buy some new software, but I just want to cry. I am sorry to go crazy on all of you. I know this is ridiculous compared to the real problems some of our members are undergoing even as I write.... I have had my own real problems in my time, too. I know the difference. Sometimes it just seems that something stupid puts you over the edge, though .

I''m sorry Deb. It sounds like you are having a rough day. I''m sending many hugs your way! I wish I could better help with your pics. Did you try and do a search against the name that your images are given to see where they are being saved at? For instance my images are saved as IMG files like img103 so I would do a search and put in *img* in the search box and hopefully all my img files would pull up.

Michelle, I did do a search and didn't come up with anything. Neatfreak, I am using a Sony videocamera (which has a memory stick, obviously) and a Windows operating system. I think that once I have recharged the battery on my videocamera I may try downlaoding the photos of the rings again and see if I can do a better job of saving them! I know I have also been unsuccessful before, but that doesn't mean I will always be unsuccessful! If I really cannot do it, I can always buy a new editing CD as a last resort!

Again, your support was really meaningful! I hope to turn this thread into one about the mini mania rings!

AGBF, I''m so sorry to hear you''re having a bad day. Please don''t be depressed! It''s really a terrible state to be in...

If you have a Sony, you probably know that you can download the driver from the Sony support site if you can''t find the CD, right? I personally don''t liket their automatic software, cause it really does copy the pictures into a crazy random hidden folder of its own system, so I usually open up the "My computer" then access the memory stick directly from there (while it is connected to the camera, of course). I believe the folder containing pictures will be named "DCIM."

If you already copied the pictures onto your PC using the Sony software, try looking for it in the Programs folder. I think there''s a link somewhere in there that leads to the transfer folder.

As for the editing software, what did you use for that? If worse comes to worst there''s always MSPaint for a quick resize/crop job.

Have you tried clicking on My Documents and then on Pictures? Then go in and give the photos a unique name. It should make things easier when you are browsing to upload.

Well, I am making progress! Although without my editing software I have not been able to edit the photos to my satisfaction (in fact, I cannot seem to make them small enough to fit onto Pricescope...yet) I have managed to get them from the camera onto my computer!

In fact until I was told that they were too big, I actually thought that I was going to get some (very poorly edited) photos into this thread just now! It''s just as well I didn''t. You couldn''t tell the color of the stones in the rings!
