I thought it might be interesting to start a thread where we can share our skincare regime.

1. Your age-"range" (if you''re comfortable sharing
2.gif
)

2. What products are included in your skincare regime?

3. Are you happy with your skincare products?

4. Are there any products that you wish you had found earlier?

5. Do you use sunscreen daily?

6. Are there any products you haven''t tried yet that you''re curious about or plan to try?

7. Do you integrate anything in particular in your diet to benefit your skin?

So I'll go first....

1. ~25

2. I cleanse with Biosource Cleansing Gel, from Biotherm,
Biosource toner, Biotherm (but I tend to be lazy and skip this step)
I moisturize with Aquasource Non stop Oligo Thermal Gel, Biotherm

3. Eh, They are alright, the moisturizer has a strong scent (perfume). But I don't think I'll be buying them again.

4. No, haven't found one yet.

5. I got a primer from Mac that has SPF50, but it tends to turn my skin oily, so I don't use it much at all.

6. The Clarisonic, Hope in a Jar and the Purity cleanser from Philosphy.

7. I try to eat lots of vegetables -spinach, broccoli, I eat a lot of avocado. Just lots of antioxidants.

Ooooo - I''ll play! I have recently found a WONDER drug for skin. Retin A! It is FAB. Brown spots? GONE in two days! Wrinkles? GONE - overnight! Melasma? GONE or at least faded overnight. I swear the stuff should be prescribed for every woman on her 30th birthday. I only wish it would work for my really wrinkly hands. It does nothing. I need a hand skin lift!

1. I''m 33.

2. Neutrogena bar soap, moisturizer with sunscreen, Ludriderm with Shea butter for an eye cream - yes, I''m aware that it is a body lotion, but, it just works great for me. Retin A for three days on two days off...Or I get dry and scabby...That''s not pretty. I also use a L''Oreal microdermabrasion scrub weekly or so - less often now that I have my beloved Retin A. I like the lotion that goes with the scrub.

3. Yes!!!

4. RETIN A!

5. Yes, at least 15. Usually higher. A day in the sun and I slather the Water Babies on my face.

6. I''m always curious about expensive products, but, I never buy them. I''m seriously cheap when it comes to beauty products. When I get a bit older, and topicals don''t work anymore, I plan to have Botox injections and fillers. Probably not ever a face lift, though.

7. Fish oil, olive oil, a gallon of water a day, plenty of fiber, no (or very little) fast food. It''s not so much about integrating things into your diet as it is omitting things that are bad for your skin - sugar, caffine, low quality carbs for example. Now, trust me, I''m not judging I eat plenty of these things. And when I do, my skin looks terrible.

Ohhhh, I''m a Clinique freak!!!

1. Ugh. I''m 30.

2. OK, I''m a bit of a product addict! Twice daily, I use: Clinique Liquid Facial Soap, Clinique Clarifying Lotion #3, Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, Clinique Total Turnaround Concentrate, Clinique Pore Refining Lotion, and Clinique All About Eyes Rich. Once daily (in the morning, before putting on makeup), I use: Clinique Pore Refining Instant Perfector. Once a week I use: Clinique Deep-Cleansing Emergency Mask and Clinique Turnaround 15-Minute Facial.

3. I''m very happy with them! I''ve been using Clinique for about 10 years now, and I can''t imagine using anything else!

4. I wish I had discovered the Pore Refining Lotion and the Pore Refining Instant Perfector earlier . . . LOVE those!!!

5. I use sunscreen VERY rarely. I know, I know . . . that''s bad.
15.gif

6. I''ve been eyeing up the Aveda skin care line, but it''s even pricier than Clinique and I''m just not convinced that it would work as well for me.

7. Nope! Although it probably wouldn''t be a bad idea . . .

Miranda,

I just googled Retin A, is this it? http://www.retinamicro.com/ , sounds interesting

Argh, I know, I know, I need to cut down on my sugar intake, BIG TIME! I eat pasteries 2-3 times per day. I've been thinking about getting Omega-3 capsules, thanks for reminding me. Straight to the pharmacy first thing in the morning. Hm, I try to have salmon once a week, but I'm not sure it's enough as I don't usually have huge portions.

I know Clinique does wonders (especially for acne prone skin), I have a couple of friends who use it (the 3-step system) and they swear by it. Their stuff is pretty strong.

Lill, Clinique actually makes the three-step system custom fitted to your skin''s needs. Here''s the scale:

1 = Very Dry Skin
2 = Normal to Dry Skin
3 = Normal to Oily Skin (This is me.)
4 = Very Oily Skin

So, if you''ve tried your friend''s stuff and it seemed to harsh for you, they are probably a three or a four on Clinique''s scale, and you''re probably a one or a two. Check out www.clinique.com. You can take a quiz on there that will tell you which three-step system would be best for you. There''s one for everybody!

My mom swears by Clinique, too! She wants me to get some big girl cosmetics/skin care. The Pore Refining Lotion and Perfector shrinks pores? My GF is 43 and has noticed her pores getting larger. Maybe this is something she should try.

Miranda, I have pores you could park a car in! Thanks, Mom!

The Pore Refining Lotion is meant as an add-on to the three-step system, and it helps to strengthen pore walls and shrink the pores over time. The Instant Perfector does exactly what it says. It DRASTICALLY reduces the visibility of your pores, which is why you should use it in the morning before putting on your makeup. You can also put it on after your makeup, or just use it alone without any makeup at all. I think both the Refining Lotion and the Instant Perfector are great, and they really seem to be helping my ginormous pores!
9.gif

Also, if your girlfriend is 43, she''s probably interested in dealing with wrinkles and all that fun stuff. I would highly recommend the Turnaround Concentrate and Turnaround 15-Minute Facial for this. You use the Turnaround Concentrate once a day (again, after your three-step), and the 15-Minute Facial is used weekly. I started using the Turnaround Concentrate because Clinique sent me a free sample with my order once. I LOVED THE STUFF!!! I ran out, and I could tell a difference in my skin almost immediately, so I rushed right out and bought some. It really smooths and almost retextures your skin!

God, I sound like the Clinique sales lady! LOL!

Actually, I don''t really have any wrinkles either. I think I can thank my Mom for that, so I guess that makes up for the fact that I got her huge pores! LOL! All of the women on my Mom''s side of the family look ridiculously young. My Grandmother just turned 80 and she doesn''t look a day over 60. Seriously. And my Mom is 54, but looks more like 40. I''m fortunate that I have good genes, I guess, but both my Mom and my Grandmother constantly harp at me about moisturizer . . . "you have to moisturize if you don''t want to get wrinkles later"! LOL! And you know, I do moisturize religiously! I figure the two of them must be doing something right!

1. ~30

2. Clinique mild facial wash (sometime I use the Aveda facial wash during the summer)
Philospohy Pigment of your Imagination facial lotion with SPF 18
Philosophy Oxygen peel (maybe monthly; sometimes every other month)
Aveeno body wash
Aveda facial clay mask (weekly)
Aveda Carribean Therapy body scrub and lotion

3. Very

4. Nope

5. Yes, I have SPF in my facial lotion and in my makeup.

6. I''ve always wanted to try poducts by Murad, but it''s way expensive.

7. I try to drink more water.

I''m mid 20''s, I use Cetaphil cleanser, a DDF sulfer mask when necessary, and Philosophy Hope in a Jar moisturizer.

I do use a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen (Laura Mercier) during the day. I wish I had found ALL my items earlier! Love them all.

After going to an Arbonne party, it got me wondering what really was best for my skin. I was 39 and knew that I was looking into the abyss called "middle-aged"...
23.gif

I lucked upon a book at the library, one of those they place so that you see the front cover in the New Books section. It was called The Skin Type Solution, here it is at amazon -
http://www.amazon.com/Skin-Type-Solution-Revolutionary-Guide/dp/B001CB2A1S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222653731&sr=8-1 It was written by a woman dermatologist, and she has a test for you to find out which skin type is yours. There are 16 I think. Mine was:

Dry, Resistant, Pigmented, Wrinkled

So I had to follow her instructions for MY skin. Since I''m resistant, I need a stronger cleanser than others, which gets more dead skin cells off before I apply a retin A daily facial lotion. She recommends an assortment of products, for every budget. I always buy the cheapest. With 5 kids on one income, I have no choice. (Yeah, I have a .88 rb, but that''s probably going to be the only big rock I''ll have, and I didn''t get it til 23 years.)

Well, now that I''m 41, I''m doing well. I do have minor breakouts due to hormones and/or stress. But generally I''m happy.

I do have to share my Grandma''s secret: Ponds cold cream on her face and hands, with gloves on every night. Just smelling Ponds is Grandma to me! She looked 20 years younger than she was, even at her viewing.

All you ladies make me want to try Clinique - I have HORRIBLE skin and I hate it. I tried Proactiv but it did absolutely nothing.

1) I am near 30 - but still deal with breakouts

2) Clean and Clear deep action exfoliating scurb - it gets all the makeup off and prevents breakouts, neutrogena daily moisture cream with spf 30 in the morning, neutrogena anti wirnkle intensive night cream (I actually started using it for acne 2 years ago because it has retin-a in it, but it is duel purpose now). I use a 10% benzyl peroxide cream as needed for breakouts

3) yes - this has been the result of years of trial and error and taking advantage of the fact that it is easy for me to ask questions to dermotolgists

4) No not really

5) Yes - see above

6) I want to try retin-a micro, I have herd that it has less of the skin drying effects because it adsorbs better and that you can put stuff on over it. I otherwise stick to the inexpensive stuff. Despite all the hype, the only topical product that has by shown by scientific data to decrease wrinkes is retin-a.

7) No, I have found that stress and hormones are the worst thing for my skin.

There is really nothing special in proactv, it is a combo of a bunch of OTC acne medicines. I don''t know how easy it is for you to see a doctor, but there are several other options that might help. I have bad skin and the Clinique 3 step program made my skin so much worst. That yellow mosture cream is really oily, I don''t know if they have changed it at all, but I know it gave a lot of people breakouts. I have been a good 4 years since I used it, so it could be different.

1.49 50 in 10 days OMG!!!!!!!!
2. Grab a chair ha ha! Sun Screen Clairsonic Vit C ; Copper peptides on hands and decolletage Emu Oil (best thing ever!) Light Stim; Derma roller (don't ask!!!)
3. Yes
4. Emu Oil ,Clairsonic
5. Absolutely
6. Always! I read EDS forums for the latest fads etc
7. Yes. Basically a lot of what Dr Perricone says. Water +++ No coffee, oily fish, nuts blueberries, minimal dairy wheat and alcohol . I had to do this diet for my allergies but found out it was awesome for my skin so I'm happy to stick with it.

4. Are there any products that you wish you had found earlier? the Shu Uemura oil cleanser, leaves my skin feeling so good!

5. Do you use sunscreen daily? Yes

6. Are there any products you haven''t tried yet that you''re curious about or plan to try? I really want to try Ren Jojoba Microbead Purifying scrub and Arcona kiwi mask but they are both expensive and I need to use up my current products first.

7. Nope! Although it probably wouldn''t be a bad idea . . .

I use Clinique quite regularly, but also love my Aveda. It''s definitely worth the money, but the only reason why I don''t get it as often is because I don''t find myself near an Aveda store very often. But if Clinique works for you, why mess with a good thing?

Firecracker, you must have been using the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. That used to be the only moisturizer Clinique offered in the three-step program, but they have since added another option: Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. That''s what I use, since my skin tends to be a little oily. The gel is much lighter and less oily than the lotion. I think they probably had a good many customers who had oilyish skin and were less than impressed with the lotion, so they came out with the gel a couple years ago. I didn''t mind the lotion, since it really didn''t do anything bad to my skin, but I was much happier when I switched to the gel.

7. Nope! Although it probably wouldn''t be a bad idea . . .

I use Clinique quite regularly, but also love my Aveda. It''s definitely worth the money, but the only reason why I don''t get it as often is because I don''t find myself near an Aveda store very often. But if Clinique works for you, why mess with a good thing?
Diva, that''s very true! I recently started using Aveda hair care stuff, which is what my salon recommends. I LOVE IT!!! So I guess I''ve just been playing with the idea of incorporating more Aveda products into my routine. I really do like the Clinique stuff though, so I think I''ll stick with that.

Buuuuut . . . you mentioned the Aveda Caribbean Therapy body wash and lotion . . . how do you like those?

1. Your age-'range' (if you're comfortable sharing)
I'm 29

2. What products are included in your skincare regime?
Cetaphil, Olay Regenerist, Paula's Choice, Bare Escentuals

3. Are you happy with your skincare products?
For the most part, yes.

4. Are there any products that you wish you had found earlier?
I wish I'd known sooner to always wear sunscreen. My skin is so fair and I'm sure I have a lot of damage I can't see yet, from running around for the first twenty-five without any sunscreen. The best sunscreen I've found so far is a liquid spray one from Paula's Choice - it's the only sunscreen I've ever tried that dries completely matte.

I also wish I'd known sooner about the difference between chemical and physical exfoliants and hadn't scrubbed the bejaysus out of my face for years in my teens and early twenties.

5. Do you use sunscreen daily?
Yes, religiously. At the bare minimum I wear my mineral make-up that has spf15, usually I have an spf30 or spf50 underneath that though.

6. Are there any products you haven't tried yet that you're curious about or plan to try?
Nope!

7. Do you integrate anything in particular in your diet to benefit your skin?
I take fish oil supplements, they seem to help!

I did try Clinique in my early 20s and it did absolutely nothing for me. Looking back now, the advice I was given at the counter was horrendous and totally wrong for my skin. And that DDML yellow stuff, it turned to grease on my face and did nothing to moisturise my skin! In a tight spot I will use their CityBlock tinted moisturiser, but thankfully I haven't been in a tight spot in a long while now. It leaves my face so shiny!

I''ll play! I just, FINALLY found a range of products that are working for my skin!

1. Your age-"range" (if you''re comfortable sharing): 26
2. What products are included in your skincare regime?
I use Origins Cream Bar to wash my face morning and night in the summer, and Origins Checks & Balances Foaming face wash in winter when my face is really dry.
Avon''s Anew Rejuvinate eye cream night/day
Oil of Olay Total Effects Moisturizer morning and night. I''ll switch to a thicker night cream in the winter.

3. Are you happy with your skincare products? Yes! My skin has FINALLY cleared up... and it was when I stopped attacking it with harsh acne stuff and started moisturizing.

4. Are there any products that you wish you had found earlier? All of them... especially eye cream. I already have wrinkles.

5. Do you use sunscreen daily? My eye cream has SPF 25, but face creams with sunscreen burn my skin.

6. Are there any products you haven''t tried yet that you''re curious about or plan to try? Not really, I finally have something that works! I might try some of the pore minimizing things on here though...

7. Do you integrate anything in particular in your diet to benefit your skin? Water!

Love it!!!! I use the body scrub about one a week. Now, the interesting thing about the directions on the bottle is that it recommends using it on dry skin for a more exfoliating effect. I tried it and found it to be too abrasive, so if you have sensitive skin, only use it while wet in the shower. Otherwise, I''m in love with it. The body wash and lotion are great too. The body wash smells great and not too "perfumey" but I wish they sold a larger bottle. The lotion especially because it has a thickness to it that isn''t too heavy and overbearing. And it smooths out nicely so you don''t have to use too much.

Thanks, Diva! Whenever I run out of my Bath & Body Works stuff, I might give the Aveda Caribbean Therapy line a try. Like I said, I''m loving the Aveda hair stuff, so I might be equally happy with their body wash/lotion. Thanks again!
