I vacillate between these two:

Old age is a shipwreck - Charles deGaulle

Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternative. Maurice Chevalier

Decide what is important to you and make sure that every decision that you make is pointing you towards or is in line with what is important to you.

And don’t hang your self esteem on things that either don’t matter or that you cannot control. People don’t (or shouldn’t) love you for how you look, how much money you make, how much stuff you have, or how much status you have. Those aren’t real. What’s real is who you are. Find the people who will love you for that. Try to value yourself for who you are and let go of (or stop beating yourself up about) what you aren’t and will never be.

I had a session with my kinesiologist a week ago, and she told me, that under the layer of anger there is always sadness or even grief. I had to realize it to myself, but this is so true. I have to learn to deal with it, and I make it step by step day by day.

RIP daddy!

Ah! That’s where I got that saying! I only say a piece of it because I couldn’t remember where I heard it! Maurice Chevalier!

"Pick your battles" - Dr. Phil

Has served me well.

Adding on to the married couple (or any successful relationship) theme...

One that I am often reminding myself of

"Perfect is the enemy of good (enough)"
I have trouble with this one but I am constantly (ironic lol) working on it.

Or as some of us can relate to (but may not always agree)
"Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without."

This reminds me of an NPR article about how depression may sometimes manifest as anger rather than sadness. It makes a lot of sense.

Don’t sweat the small stuff.

Just remember, none
of us are getting out
of here alive.

Tell the truth,
break the rules, make mistakes,
it’s your only chance.

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." -- Maya Angelou

If you asked my kids my favorite quote, they would know exactly how to respond. I love Maya Angelou, she is so full of wisdom.

I need to incorporate that in my daily life ! Thank you for sharing !
