Loving everyone''s violet stones - they really are gorgeous!
TL I meant to comment in your original thread on your 2.8ct tunduru spinel that I thought your ring was gorgeous! (but I never seem to get time to be here these days) I love that ring
I LOVE violet, and it's one of the few colors that will photograph properly with my camera. Keep those pictures coming. Lavender, violet, purple, yum!!
All your pictures are so awesome, thank you!!
Bling Addict,
Thank you for the kind words on my Tunduru. It's one of my favs!
Love the violets and purples. There''s just something about the deep rich colors that I love. Here are my amethysts set in yellow gold...................
Here’s my contribution to the purple/violet thread. Uruguayan amethyst cut by Richard Homer in the traditional flat faceting style, set as earring charms. Unfortunately, I am unable to capture the blue and red flash.
So many gorgeous examples of my favourite colour! I'd be an amethyst fan (chrono's look positively neon!) if it wasn't for all the talk of it fading under the sun. Still, beautiful purples and violets can be found among sapphires, tanzanites, spinels, and the rare tourmaline. And I'm glad to see some sugilite in this thread!
I have two lovely tanzanite trillions (one deep bluish violet and one a strong lavender) and two slightly less impressive spinels (I have come to the conclusion that purple/violet spinel is best bought in person and not via the Internet). No pics right now, though.
I love your sapphire and your tanzanite, pierreone! They actually look quite similar - though in person, I would imagine that the fire in the tanzanite is more pronounced. Tanzanite has its detractors, but I will never be one of them. One of mine is sitting on my self now, sending hot flashes of red, magenta and blue out from its rich lavender depths. Though only just one carat, I find it breathtaking.
